Tired of waiting. First it was gonna be Schwarzenegger, then it was gonna be Johnson, then it was gonna be any actor in Hollywood over 6 ft tall. Now? I guess Ritchson comes the closest. But personally, I always thought Doc should be at least part Native. "Savage", get it? I kid. Nevertheless, it doesn't say anywhere in the source material that he couldn't be at least half. Not sure how else you would explain his skin tone, which has yet to be rendered faithfully in any adaptation. Tanned like "a thousand suns?" Don't sound like Ron Ely or Hemsworth. Mohican, Maori, or Malinke, any of 'em fit. I just want the damn movie. Ye standarde social media disclaimer: I have no idea how Netiquette works. When to reply, when to ignore, when to follow, when to unfollow, what the f*ck any of this really matters. My childhood friend admonished me to get on the 'Gram, but to immediately block anyone I didn't already know. Whatever, here I 'gram. But if I do something that offends another Netizen, for the record: I respect you as a human being and wish you every success in doing good things. But please don't be an asshole. There's no excuse or permission for that, not even a bad childhood. Now go create something good. by @scottwat89

On the flip side, this guy. The original "Highlander" is in my all-time top 10. Can't count how many times I've watched it. But I have to admit, it is still one of the most miscast films of the '80s. And the frustrating part is that all the actors are so good, regardless of the parts they play. Connery as a Spanish Egyptian? A Frenchman who could barely speak English (this is not an insult, check the DVD commentaries by Widen & Mulcahy) as a 16th c. Scotsman? Roxane Hart's (RIP) character was supposed to "remind Connor of his dead wife Heather," but couldn't have been more different. Of the lead characters, Brown, of course, was perfect, and Edney (the pre-Kate Winslet "Kate Winslet") didn't get nearly the attention she deserved. But the others.....🤐. Omar Sharif and Raul Julia were very much alive and active at the time. And the Highlander? This guy. Like his countryman Mark, he should be everywhere. And if he'd been cast as MacLeod, I have no doubt the movie would've been a hit instead of a cult classic. Lambert's main challenge wasn't the dialogue or the acting, it was the promotion. Lambert couldn't trade quips with Letterman or be witty and charming to the guests on Johnny's couch, even though the man himself is both those things (he *is* French, after all). Whereas if Glen had strode out onto Oprah's stage in full kilt & Prince Charlie jacket, Craig would not have been the first blond Bond and "The Living Daylights" would have had a different lead. I say that as a Dalton fan, one who places him above Connery in interpreting Bond. It's fun to play "what if?", and the possibilities are indeed endless, so no shade to any of the original cast. But this guy is a walking Ralph Lauren add from Connery's hometown, with legit Shakespearean chops & charisma to spare. You will never see a better iteration of Robin Hood, the original or the modern ones, than in the 2005 BBC adaptation of Stevenson's "Kidnapped". Check him out. by @scottwat89

The Brits don't want a Black James Bond? Cool. Neither do I. I want "Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD: Classified". Stringer Bell is ours. Knighthood or no. 🙂 Ye standarde social media disclaimer: I have no idea how Netiquette works. So, this guy. One bad thing about the demise of the old Hollywood studio system is the end of central casting. You wanted a hero? Get Cooper or Bogart. You wanted a villain? Get Lorre or Rathbone. Clearly, things are better all around for the actors now that they decide which projects to participate in or create, and not the studio. But that also means actors who should be getting a lot more major vehicles to present & hone their skills, do not because those with the powers of decision don't have the same investment in individual actors as they did back in the day. Like this guy. You've seen him, you know he's good, but you haven't seen him nearly enough, because he should be everywhere. Y'see, the old studio heads knew they weren't just selling something, they were crafting something. Anyway, if you haven't met this man, introduce yourself to his work. You won't regret it.
