What a wonderful sound! We’ve had some significant rain this past week, much needed! Today it came down so hard that the view of my backyard was blurred, so here’s what the beautiful colors of my kousa dogwood look like against the hemlock green. #rain #blur #pnwbeauty #fallweather #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
This Amanita muscaria aka fly agaric was just a little button top with a light red tint a few days ago. I’m surprised that critters haven’t gotten it yet, but it looks like a few insects got taken in by its beauty (see the stem). Their presence means that fall is here, with the glorious leaves and cool weather. #amanitamuscaria #toadstool #fungus #flyagaric #iphonephoto by @scoutabbott
We caught this local bit of autumn splendor just a little past prime color, but there was still a wonderful stillness in the air, accented with a few well-placed spider webs. #fallcolors #autumnleaves #pnwbeauty #deciduous #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
Peekaboo Amanita - sometimes you find the coolest flora and fauna looking underneath bushes and inside blackberry monstrosities! I love this amber colored Amanita. #mushrooms #amanitamuscaria #fallcolors #goaskalice #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
Beautiful willow reflections on the rippled surface of Green Lake. A mallard pair had just been paddling about. #reflection #reflectionphotography #willow #autumncolor #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
Some amanitas a few days from developing their nice, red tops. Despite Alice’s adventures in Wonderland, you don’t want to casually nibble on this mushroom! #amanitamuscaria #mushrooms #fungi #seattleparks #iphonephoto by @scoutabbott
Beautiful early evening watching reflections and ripples on surface of Green Lake - and getting photobombed by a mallard pair! #seattleparks #greenlake #mallard #reflection #iphonephoto by @scoutabbott
Bieberstein’s crocuses are joining in the flamboyance of autumn colors. I love the delicate orange styles that illuminate the cups of these iris relatives. #crocus #autumncrocus #fallcolors #fallbulbs #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
Signs of fall. Spider dance season keeping us on our toes. #fallcolor #pnwbeauty #spiderweb #maple #iphonephoto by @scoutabbott
At the Seattle Girls Choir Homecoming reunion and concert at Seattle University St, Ignatius Chapel. There were a few raindrops falling while the current Prime Voci singers sang Bridge Over Troubled Water. Simply beautiful. #seattlegirlschoir #bridgeovertroubledwater #simonandgarfunkel #seattleuniversity #reflectingpool by @scoutabbott
The leaves of this surprised-looking black walnut glowed lime, yellow, and amber in the afternoon sun. #blackwalnut #treebark #autumnlight #pnwbeauty #iphonephoto by @scoutabbott
This is the larger of the two Steller’s jays that frequent my porch. It never begs for a handout; it just sits all floofed up, usually in the wisteria. But I watched it today with its comb down and feet/toes in relaxed positions, which generally indicates a relaxed state in birds. I’m glad my front porch can provide a sense of safety and comfort even when not plying them with goodies. #stellersjay #corvid #backyardbirds #relaxation #iphonephotography by @scoutabbott
