I need to share this with anyone and everyone, because I am just over the moon!Veed and I spotted our first wild octopus in 2019, and ever since we’ve made a point to follow the schedule of the moon and tides to go searching for them when we’re on the west coast. Well last night we spotted our 10th ever and WOW!After spotting him and watching him hiding under a rock, with one eye out intensely watching our movements, I decided to shift to see if he would leave the tide pool so that he wouldn’t be pinned in a corner. When he didn’t move, I placed my hand at the top of the water AND HE REACHED AN ARM OUT AND GRABBED ME. Then another! Then more!! I was absolutely beside myself, with how insane it was and how strong he was! With everything I know about wild octopus, I could have never expected one to choose to interact with a person in that way! (Though I’m not saying he had pure intentions of friendship hahah!) I’m so glad Veed caught the end of our interaction, because this was just incredible. I know people who have dedicated their lives to diving and have hardly seen wild octopus, let alone gotten close to one, and certainly not this!! Wow. Wow wow wow. What an incredible world we live in. I feel immensely grateful anytime I am able to share a moment with a creature, an exchange of curiosity, trust, and wonder. From bugs to raccoons to fish, hummingbirds, deer, and all of the other animals I’ve been lucky to be trusted by. But an octopus?? WOW. Wow. by @scoutburns_

I wanted to do a photodump of what I’ve been up to these days but I’m still chronically bad at taking pictures. so here’s a little florida spring I found for @veed.divtech and me to swim in while traveling 700 miles recently. by @scoutburns_
