Sundays aren’t just for church and a long family lunch in Southern Italy - Puglia has a strong tradition of rotating Sunday flea/antique markets and one of the best is Martina Franca in the Valle d’Itria. So much so our first buy was the from the first stall we saw - an 18th century majolica devotional plaque - Our Lady of Sorrows. These markets are a fantastic mix of very old, traditional Puglian artisan pieces and modern design from the sixties through to the eighties and everything either side and in between.

In late November 2024, we bought a small “Tower House” in the centre storico of an unassuming part of Salento - the very tip of the heel of Italy’s Apulia region. It’s hot, it’s dusty, it’s dry and unforgiving, raw and inspiring. The light is like no other. This is our account dedicated to our love of the region, its people and its food, its art and architecture.
