POSTS STORIES REELS

One year ago today, we had our world premiere! Feels like longer.

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing the show yet, you can find the footage on YouTube. Link in bio!

Also, in more news, last week I had the honor of giving a presentation about the show and our upcoming cast album at the Thinking Matters conference at USM, along with some other folks who gave presentations about music and entertainment. It was all very interesting to see!

And that's all for now! More coming soon. by @scratch.musical

IN ONE WEEK! On Friday, April 18th, at around 12:30 PM, I (Chiana Dawe) will be presenting at Thinking Matters about the creation of the SCRATCH! cast album! I'll be in Abromson Center on the first floor of Hannaford Hall on USM's Gorham Campus. This is a big step forward for us! See you there! by @scratch.musical

Yesterday, we got the band back together and continued recording our cast album. One song we worked with was Messin' With Paparazzi, which contains dialogue and a gasp that proceeded to almost immediately begin haunting us. by @scratch.musical

Exciting news: Today we began recording the vocals for the SCRATCH! cast album at Maine College of Art and Design! Taylor Ciotti, Samara Tan and Noam Albion totally rocked it today. We also got to hear amazing guitar playing from Nicholas Rhodes on Hey Captain! and Venomous Love. Special thanks to Steve Drown for giving us this space and his professional guidance. by @scratch.musical

Fun Fact: During Messin' With Paparazzi, the paparazzi ensemble (Samara, Phoebe, Noam and Annika) were actually taking pictures! Hundreds were taken in the dress rehearsal and premiere combined, but here's just a few of our favorites plus a video in which Samara takes on the self-assigned role of an invasive vlogger. by @scratch.musical

Feeling sentimental, so here's how SCRATCH! looked over the years from 2020 - 2024.

The first time I ever drew Roxie, Lisia, Ryuki and Piers together was when I was at a lakehouse on Sebago Lake during the summer of 2020, a couple months before I began attending classes at USM. It was notably in the sketchbook gifted to me by my first music teacher, Debbie Gardell. At the time of drawing it, I had no idea the story of SCRATCH! would go as far as it did. Even while I was working on it over the years, it was hard to picture it all. I honestly still can't believe that I no longer have to just imagine it! by @scratch.musical

Happy Pride Month! And of course, Happy Piers Day! He's our favorite guy. ( Played by @emaehayes ) by @scratch.musical

Hello all,

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of the performance video. It is almost done, but I've been saying that for weeks, and I officially have no idea when it will be out. There have been a lot of technology-based unforseen hiccups, and I've needed to get in touch with a lot of people about other things regarding the video. It has been incredibly stressful and I need to take a break before jumping back into the fray. Hopefully the gods of technology will be on my side by then. Thank you all for your support and patience.

P.S. The image in this post is actually outdated. The way the project looks now is so much... worse? It's a lot. by @scratch.musical

Special thanks to Autumn Hughes ( @funky_fresh_jazz_singer ) for writing this article about our show for USM's Free Press! by @scratch.musical
