🗣️: ARC Review

📖 Wanted by Paisley Hope

Tropes:
🧑‍🧒‍🧒 single dad
🤠cowboys
🩶morally gray MMC
🚫 forbidden romance
🗓️age gap
☀️ grumpy/sunshine
🔥slow burn
🏡 found family
🤱nanny

He’s a single dad to twin girls, she’s his ex’s estranged sister. Hallie (FMC) returns home to her small Kentucky hometown in hopes of a fresh start after a breakup. She meets Beau at the local watering hole on her first night in town and sparks fly. Not knowing who the other is, the attraction and chemistry is instant. But, when Beau discovers who she actually is and the fact she will be his daughter’s new teacher, he immediately puts up a wall and keeps things professional. How long can they stay away from each other when fate and circumstances keeps pushing them together?

What I liked-
* every one was so accepting of Hallie regardless of her connection to her sister
* Beau is the best dad in spite of everything he and his girls have been through
* Cameos from the Silver Pines Ranch series
* When we finally got to the spice it was spicy
* The forshadowing to future books in the series. I love getting that peak ahead.
What I didn’t like-
* This was such a sloooooow burn like this story crept along.
* The romance seemed like a secondary theme of the story. I want my romance front and center.
* Beau kind of treated Hallie like crap most of the book. He definitely took her for granted and assumed her life revolved around him and his girls. But on the other hand Hallie did NOTHING about it. She just went along with it all. She did make Beau and his daughters her ENTIRE world. I feel like this took away from her strength.
* I feel like Beau’s work with Boone was sort of a haphazard way to make him seem more rugged/morally gray. I needed more of that story and seemed like an afterthought.

Overall, this book was cute but lacked the romance I love and was kinda heavy. It felt more about the Black Family’s struggles and less about the love building between Beau and Hallie.

October flew by! I finished 10 total books! I feel like I’ve been in such a reading slump since finishing The Washwoman at Rivers End. October definitely brought some bangers!

Top Read of October was easily:
No Way Out by @santana.knox

This trilogy is a fav or mine and the ending did not disappoint!

Here’s hoping for a just as fruitful November!
