36 Dramatic Situations (Part - 3) The Thirty-Six Dramatic Situations is a descriptive list proposed by Georges Polti in 1895. He categorised dramatic situations and concluded that every story that was ever made or going to made will definitely have these dramatic situations. follow @screengasm for more [Master, Aalavandhan, Panchatanthiram, Uttama Villain, Nenjam Marappathillai, Aayirathil Oruvan, Nayagan, 96, Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum, Soorarai Pottru, Ponniyin Selvan, Thani Oruvan] #36dramaticsituations #kollywood #tamilcinema #screengasm by @screengasm
Kamalhassan Signature Series (Part-5) - Mirrors & Reflections 🎬 We all know how Director Maniratnam uses mirrors and its a topic widely discussed. In the same way @ikamalhaasan uses it often with deeper meanings than we realize. This is not much noticed or spoken about. The above are few examples. For previous parts of the series I posted explanations. But lets have this as a discussion. Share your thoughts, if you know why mirrors and reflections are used in the above shots? All the above shots has a reason. Lets see who identifies it. I will share my thoughts in comments soon. Save this reel so you wont miss out the explanation. 36 Dramatic Situations (Part - 2) Georges Polti categorised dramatic situations and concluded that every story that was ever made or going to be made will definitely have these dramatic situations. Kamalhassan Signature Series (Part-4) - The Mythology Connect 🎬 @ikamalhaasan incorporates references to Indian mythologies in most of his films, making it one of his signatures. Explained few below 👇 1. Dasavathaaram --> The 10 Avatars of Vishnu (The characters Krishnaveni is based on Varaha avatar, Shingen Narahazi is based on Narasimha, Vincent Poovaraghan is based on Krishna and so on...). 2. Vishwaroopam --> Vishwanath - Arjunan (During ajnyātavāsa, Arjuna disguises as a women dance teacher), Colonel Jagannathan - Lord Krishna (Directly indicated through his name and Wiz calls him uncle). 3. Hey Ram --> Saketh Ram - Lord Ram, Shriram Abhayankar - Hanuman, Gandhi - Raavan. Check Out profile @screengasm. Already did a detailed post explaining the entire story's link to Ramayana. 4. Virumaandi --> Virumaandi Thevar - Lord Brahma, Kothala Thevar - Lord Shiva, Nallama Nayakkar - Lord Vishnu. Even the movie's poster, has thier faces collaged similar to the trimurtis (திருமூர்திகள்) statue. 5. Thevar Magan --> Sakthivel Thevar - Pandavas, Mayan Thevar - Duryodhan. Though the story is inspired from The Godfather (1972) and Kaadu (1973), it's outline resembles the Mahabharata. Chinnasamy Thevar is handicapped similar to Dhritarashtra (blind) and his son develops vengeance against Periyasamy Thevar's family, similiar to how Duryodhan was to Pandavas. 6. Aalavandhan --> Vijay - Lord Rama. In Ramayana, war is fought for Sita, while here it is for Tejaswini. So Nandu is Raavan? No, he is Parashuram. Only two avatars of Vishnu has met and its Ram and Parashuram. Both are even related, as Parashuram's mother Renuka, is a Kosala princess. Nandu is fierce like Parashuram and both kills their mother for not being loyal to their father. Kamalhassan Signature Series (Part-3) - The animal metaphor 🎬 In most of his films @ikamalhaasan connects his characters with an animal, to symbolize aspects of his characters' personalities or situations, often visually expressed or explained through dialogue. Above are few, Uttama Villain - Fish Aalavandhan - Snake Anbe Sivam - Dog Virumaandi - Bull Mahanadi - Sparrow Heyram - Elephant Other Characters with animal metaphors Mahanadi --> Dhanush - Eagle Aalavandhan --> Women - Spider, Step-mother - Tiger Check Out other parts of this series too 👉 @screengasm follow @aesthetic._.cinema_ & @screengasm [Kamalhassan, animal metaphor, Tamil movies] #kamalhaasan #tamilcinema #kollywood #screengasm by @screengasm

Kamalhassan Signature Series (Part-2) - The first and final shots 🎬 @ikamalhaasan films often feature a strong thematic connection between their opening and closing scenes, frequently ending in a manner that is connected to the beginning. For example, in Hey Ram, the first shot features a door opening, and the final shot shows his grandson opening a window. Similarly, in Mahanadi, a train enters the frame at the beginning and exits at the end. This pattern is evident in many of his works and few are shared above.
