5+5: MATTHEW PILLSBURY - This fall, we’re happy to include Matthew Pillsbury among the presenting artists in our upcoming 5+5 slideshow series, kicking off October 6.

Matthew specializes in long-exposure photographs made only with available light, following the passage of time and the people who move through the spaces he photographs. He has captured scenes everywhere from New York City apartments to museums, parades, cathedrals, and other private and public spaces around the world. His work is held in public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, and the Musée du Louvre, and he is a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship. A monograph of his work was published by Aperture in 2013.

In his slideshow, Matthew will share five photographs by other photographers that have influenced him, and five of his own that have been pivotal in his creative journey, offering insight into how he thinks about photography.

Matthew presents online on Tuesday, October 27, 6:30-7:15pm ET.

Having grown up in #France on a regular Casablanca diet watching @badbunnypr bring the Stade Velodrome to a thunderous rendition of La Marseillaise was magic. #dtmftour #marseille #badbunnypr #badbunny taken in Stade Orange Vélodrome Marseille by @screenlives

As a 51yo white guy I may not be your typical @badbunnypr super fan. This was amusingly captured in this photo of me at Yankee stadium surrounded by much younger women. There are many reasons for my passion- the ck campaign makes a compelling argument and the npr tiny desk performance (watch with captions) makes another. As a gay man who's struggled with his own identity, I admire the way he's embraced who he is without compromise and has found success as an artist by changing our culture and not himself. On July 11th @f3rratti and I will be seeing him perform live for the 20th time. One day, I hope our paths cross and we get to share some of our stories and find out if he'd ever spotted the older white guy and tall Dominican having the time of our lives. #dtmf
