The Rosette Nebula / NGC 2237. It is a large star-forming region in the constellation Monoceros, known for its flowerlike shape, about 5,000 light-years away. It’s a vast cloud of gas and dust with a central open star cluster, NGC 2244, whose hot, young stars are blowing away the surrounding material, creating the nebula’s distinctive structure. by @scrib1es

HAPPY 4TH! (I probably won’t post for a few weeks) I felt like this was a good post with the color combination 🤔🤨 I will be in Michigan this next week the plan is to capture some tracked shots of the Milky Way core! 😋

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a stunning, filamentary supernova remnant in the Cygnus constellation. Located about 2,400 light-years away, it represents the glowing, intertwined gas shockwaves left behind by a massive star that exploded 10,000 to 20,000 years ago.
The remnants were created by a star roughly 20 times more massive than our Sun. When it went supernova, the explosion would have outshines Venus and been visible during the daytime.
It forms the bright, eastern edge of the larger Cygnus Loop. It gets its signature gossamer, rope-like appearance from fast-moving debris plowing into the interstellar medium at speeds up to 1 million miles per hour.
The brilliant colors come from shocked, heated gas cooling down. Glowing red filaments indicate hydrogen, green highlights the presence of sulfur, and the prominent blue arcs trace doubly ionized oxygen.
The entire Veil Nebula spans about 3 degrees across the sky, which is equivalent to about 6 full moons. The Eastern Veil specifically is prized by astrophotographers for its high surface brightness and striking detail!

The Leo Triplet, also known as the M66 Group, is a stunning gravitationally interacting trio of spiral galaxies located approximately 35 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Leo. Because they all fit into a single field of view, they are a highly popular and rewarding target for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers!

- Messier 66 - The largest and brightest member of the triplet, featuring asymmetric, stretched-out spiral arms and an intense burst of star-forming activity triggered by the gravitational pull of its neighbors. It is classified as an intermediate spiral galaxy.

- Messier 65 - A classic, more sedate looking intermediate spiral galaxy with a well defined structure and young, hot stars. It has relatively less dust and gas compared to the other two.

- NGC 3628 (Hamburger Galaxy) - It is an unbarred spiral galaxy viewed completely edge-on from Earth. It is famously defined by a thick, dark dust lane running directly across its center and a faint, 300,000-light-year-long tidal tail of stars that was stripped from it by gravitational interactions with M65 and M66.
