25 years married today. Starting year 34 together in October. I knew right away. No one has ever fully had my back, loved my faults and lifted me up like you.

Stopped by @ccvi1952 the other day and checked in on a small piece in their hallway that might be about 10 years old now. Time flys! Here is how it was made and a little background on the piece. taken in Children's Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) by @scribbleversestudios

The animals are back at it! 🐾🎨
A couple of weeks ago, we teamed up with the awesome crew at Boost KC to bring some new window graphics to Threads to Thrive!

The story that starts on the front of our building now continues around the side—with our animal friends doing what they do best: speaking up about our mission.

✨ We Clothe.
💛 We Uplift.
📚 We Educate.

This mural at Children’s Mercy East is a little different from our usual work. We wanted to create something outdoors under open skies—but without the typical park theme.
The inspiration came from a childhood memory of sitting in front of my grandparents’ TV, watching Hanna-Barbera’s Wacky Races on USA Network. That sense of fun and imagination stuck with me.
The result is a cast of animals racing in vehicles inspired by their own shapes, all speeding toward the finish line. My hope is that while kids are waiting, their imaginations can jump into the race and take them somewhere fun for a little while.
I also designed the terrazzo floors installed by Desco! taken in Kansas City, Missouri by @scribbleversestudios

Some years back, my wife Alisa @40threads and I had the privilege of creating a tactile mural for the kids at CCVI. The owl theme inspired Alisa to bring the character I painted to life as a mascot.
The idea was to create a hero who sees well in the dark—a reflection of the incredible work @ccvi1952 does every day, helping children navigate and thrive in their world.
We recently came across photos of the mascot still being used all these years later, and it brought a smile to our faces. There’s something special about seeing a piece of your work continue to make a difference long after it’s finished.

At AdventHealth for Children in Orlando, there’s a space that immediately brings a sense of peace. Surrounded by murals of serene mountains and endless birch trees, it’s a gentle reminder to slow down and breathe.
As you make your way to the NICU entrance, you’re greeted by a pair of sweet bears embracing—an image that quietly reassures you that you’ve arrived in a place filled with compassion, hope, and love. 💜

As you step off the elevators on the 5th floor of AdventHealth for Children in Orlando, you’re welcomed into a world of mountains, forests, and friendly bears.

A mural of our furry friends enjoying nature, fresh mountain air, and the simple joy of friendship stretches across the hallway. Birch trees climb the rolling hills, with their colors thoughtfully tied into the palette of the new furniture, creating a seamless connection throughout the space.

It’s the first thing families see as they make their way toward the NICU and Pediatric Transplant Unit—a peaceful reminder that even in life’s most challenging moments, there’s still room for wonder, comfort, and a little adventure.
Thanks @emely69 for grabbing the video and running lead on this one! taken in AdventHealth Orlando by @scribbleversestudios

Hard to believe it has already been a year since the film Enter The Scribbleverse was shown as a mixed live show with @charlottestreetfoundation and the Protolab series. Working with @leonarddstroy on the film was a real adventure and learning experience for both of us. The feedback has been so good.

Designing this vehicle was a creative puzzle. Every element had to work within strict safety regulations. The entire wrap is printed on reflective vinyl so the ambulance remains highly visible if it’s stopped in the dark, and the stars flowing toward the front help define the vehicle’s size and length.

But beyond the technical requirements, I kept thinking about one simple question:

How should a child feel when this ambulance pulls up?

As a kid, I loved my Hot Wheels collection, and in many ways this felt like designing one of those cars for real. Except this one had a much bigger purpose.

It would have been easy to cover the ambulance with logos and marketing, but this wasn’t about advertising. It was about creating something that could ease fear before a single word was spoken. Something that quietly said, “You’re safe. You’re cared for. This was made with you in mind.”

That’s why the message “JUST FOR KIDS” became so important. The Children’s Mercy logo lets families know who is caring for them, while the characters help tell the story of the relationship between the Transport team and the children they serve.

Over the years, I’ve been stopped by parents, nurses, EMTs, and complete strangers who wanted to tell me about seeing these ambulances or riding in one. Friends still send me photos and videos when they spot them on the highway. Every message reminds me that thoughtful design can do more than decorate a vehicle—it can change how someone experiences one of the hardest moments of their life.

I’ve always believed that art has a job beyond looking good. Sometimes it can bring a smile. Sometimes it can spark hope. And sometimes it can help make a child feel just a little braver on the ride to the hospital.

That’s a project I’ll always be grateful to have been part of.
