Devotional Shrine
"Outreached arm of god"

This unique rock, I picked on the mountain. It's upright form resembles an arm, reaching from the earth. Towards the heavens, extending beyond human boundaries and offering protection, guidance and life.

The hand carved words on the rock, speak of god who reaches towards humanity. The roughness of the natural rock, remains visible. Reminding us that spirituality, doesn't exist only within constructed places of worship. It can also be encounted within self, earth, mountains, water and landscape.

My work also recalls the biblical story of the Israelites, in the wilderness. When water came from a rock and became a source of life for a people journeying through a dry and difficult land. God says, " whoever drinks the water I give them, will never thirst".

The shrine invites the viewer to consider the possibility of finding spiritual nourishment, in unexpected places. Where earth, humanity and the presence of God meet.

This unique hand carved rock, is therefore not simply a carved rock. It's an invitation to pause, reflect and remember that, even in the driest places, a source of life may still be present. If you believe in God, you become a living testimony. by @scriptandstone.cpt

I am honored to be working on this extraordinary commission, based on a design by a renowned calligrapher.

I am proud to be collaborating on this project with my talented colleague and friend, @ley_mboramwe
Together, we are pouring our focus into every stroke of the chisel 🇿🇦

We can’t reveal the full story or the final piece just yet, but it will soon be part of an upcoming exhibition! Stay tuned as we move closer to the reveal.

Carved in stone. Meant to last generations.
This entrance sign for Fairview Wine and Cheese was shaped the traditional way — by hand, using hammer and chisel.
No shortcuts. No machines. Just patience, precision, and respect for the craft.
Every letter you see carries depth, character, and permanence that only true stone carving can achieve.
If you’re looking to create something timeless for your home, business, or estate — something that speaks before a word is said — I’d love to work with you.

A defining chapter in my journey: 2008, Bruges. 🇧🇪🔨

While my path as a stone carver began in Cape Town, 2008 was the year I chose to push my craft to a new level. I traveled to Belgium for an internship at the workshop of letter carver @maud_bekaert

Working side-by-side with Maud, I carved this intricate labyrinth. It was a true test of patience and precision, requiring absolute focus with the hammer and chisel. This period wasn't just about learning techniques. It was also about refining my eye for detail.

Today I'm applying those skills to every commission I get. 🇿🇦

Let's create something permanent together.

"Carving a legacy, one letter at a time. 🏛️
'Novae Domus Vitam Novam' — A new house, a new life. There is something incredibly powerful about taking words and making them permanent. Digital screens may fade, but stone remembers forever.

Hand-designed, hand-cut, and built to last generations.

Traditional craft in a digital age. 🔨🪨

My first series of hand-carved stones on my new business page. Each letter is designed by hand and cut into the stone using only a hammer and chisel.
In a world of screens, there is a deep satisfaction in the permanence of stone. These "scripts" are V-cut to catch the light and shadow, making the alphabet physical.

Follow along as I share more of the journey from the drawing board to the final strike of the chisel. #scriptandstone #lettercarving #handcarved #stonecarving #capetownart #artisan #vcut #typography #traditionalcraft #lettering taken in Cape Town, South Africa by @scriptandstone.cpt
