📍Kings Heath, Birmingham, UK For so many reasons, we both agree that @hareandhoundsbrum is up there with our favourite pubs in Brum! A historic pub packed with the classic features we love, but with a vibe and atmosphere that never feels dated. @deathrowkitchenbrum have taken over the menu bringing dirty south inspired comfort food to south Birmingham. We ordered: *Kimchi hash browns *Red Thai prawn crumpet ❤️💙 *Southern fried fish & chips *Ribs The Red Thai Prawn Crumpet caught our eye immediately, with its crispy base and hints of red Thai curry! The kimchi hash browns would also make the perfect snack alongside a quick drink. The sides and small plates were where the real flavour was at! We’ll definitely be back to try the cheeseburger croquettes and the rest of the menu very soon! 📍Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, UK A crawl of the Jewellery Quarter wouldn’t be complete without a stop at one of its iconic pubs and @redlionjq is a proper Victorian gem! Recently restored by @joulesbrewery, it’s full of character with all the best features brought back to life. We grabbed a seat in the tiered courtyard garden, complete with a beer shed and darts board. The smell of fresh Neapolitan pizza from The Quarter Slice was too good to resist, so we ordered: *Bianca pizza ❤️💙 *Aioli dip The Bianca was deliciously rich, with a garlicky base topped with creamy leeks, parmesan and bacon. A winning combination! The flavours might be a little overpowering for some, but we absolutely loved it. The Red Lion also hosts FML Sundays, perfect for our love of a Sunday crawl, with happy hour and food deals every week. 📍Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, UK The beauty of @saintpaulsmarket is the high calibre traders all under one roof. You can try something new every visit or like us stick with the favourites we know and love! On our recent visit, we ordered: *King prawn toast ❤️ *Spicy chicken skins *Spare ribs 💙 *Soft shell crab bao The iconic king prawn toast from @soi_1268 was piled high with juicy, fragrant prawns as always! @__tigerbitespig undeniably serve the best bao in Brum and this bun was packed with fresh flavours and a generous piece of crab. We wanted to love the chicken skins, but the heat was a little too much for our spice tolerance! @saintpaulsmarket is our favourite food hall in Birmingham because of its unique setting, impressive traders, it really does have a buzz about it! 📍Mailbox, Birmingham, UK We recently returned to one of our favourite independent restaurants in the Mailbox, @en_steak to check out their impressive new Steak Sharing Boards! Showcasing the best Hereford Beef, think T-Bone, Rump, Sirloin and more, all cooked over coals and served with perfectly paired sides. 📍Wapping Wharf, Bristol, UK Taking inspiration from Tokyo izakaya bars, @sevenluckygodsbristol brings those vibes to Bristol’s @wappingwharf, we stopped by during our staycation for a bite to break up our bar crawl! Serving up small Asian influenced plates, this was the kind of menu that made choosing what to order very difficult! We went for: *Panko King Prawn & Salmon Dragon Roll *Chicken Katsu Curry Arancini ❤️ *Char Sui Pork Ribs 💙 *Curry Fries Every dish was really enjoyable, if we didn’t have plans we definitely would have ordered more! The Katsu Arancini worked so well and were the perfect little pops of flavour. Curry fries are undoubtedly always going to be a winning combination after a few drinks! We visited on a hot Sunday afternoon and pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves, but we can imagine this place really comes to life on a busy evening! 📍City Centre, Birmingham, UK Behind the bookcase you’ll find @katieobriensbirmingham best kept secret, the hidden basement bar The Cavern. Complete with @katieobriensbirmingham signature atmosphere and live music, this more intimate space really does have the Irish bar charm that we love! With its own bar and stage, not forgetting Baby Guinness shots all around! The Cavern is the perfect addition to complement the lively atmosphere upstairs and we’ll definitely be heading down next time we visit! 📍City of London, London, UK We’re forever on the search for the best BBQ we can find outside of the US. So when we saw @interstellarbbq and @la_barbecue bringing their Michelin starred pitmasters all the way from Austin to @thenedlondon, we knew we needed to make a trip to the capital! The tray was £150 for two, with a £50 supplement for the brisket and included: *Peach tea glazed pork belly ❤️ *Pulled lamb shoulder *Beef short rib *Chopped cheese sausage *Pork ribs 💙 *Prime brisket Sides included Mac & Cheese, Texas toast, Beans, Pickles and Beetroot salad. Now this really was a platter full of flavour! The peach tea glazed pork belly was as good as it sounds! We were surprised by just how much we enjoyed the slightly sweet and spicy flavours of the pork ribs. The lamb shoulder was definitely the smokiest dish on the plate, but we loved every mouthful! Personally, the brisket didn’t quite live up to expectations. It was a very lean cut which made it almost dry, so for us it wasn’t worth the additional charge. The cocktails curated by @jackdaniels_uk really did top off the meal, why don’t more drinks come with a mountain of pickles as a garnish! In just over 24hrs, here are our highlights: * @bagelsocietyofficial - The best bagel we’ve had outside of New York! 💙 * @wappingwharf - This harbourside neighbourhood built from shipping containers is home to some of the best independents in the city. * @brozenbar - Cocktails crafted with liquid nitrogen that felt more like a boozy dessert! * @lhgbrewpub - This impressive taproom was the perfect pitstop for a few craft beers. * @sevenluckygodsbristol - Japanese-inspired small plates, we absolutely loved the katsu arancini! ❤️ * @spitfirebbq - Go for the delicious frozen mango margaritas, which are 2 for 1 all day. * @thelibrarybristol - We love a themed bar and this hidden spot definitely did not disappoint. * @wingfestuk - We’ve said it already, but this is quickly becoming one of our favourite foodie festivals! 📍 Stirchley, Birmingham, UK Build your own pizza with as many toppings as you like, combined with undoubtedly some of the best craft beer in Brum? Sounds like our perfect combination! We’ve been visiting @atticbrewcotap for years and it’s always been one of our favourite canal walk destinations, but the addition of a @deathrowpizza food offering has really elevated it to our favourite taproom in town! After grabbing a menu and a pen, we went for: 💙= Pepperoni, Nduja, Italian Sausage with Red Onion, Mushrooms and Spinach ❤️= Anchovies, Capers, Black Olives, Red Onion topped with Rocket Both were served on a classic tomato base and we both commented that the base and crust were some of the best around! Especially when paired with the chilli honey and garlic mayo for dipping. We love that we can both pick our favourite toppings without having to compromise! 📍Prospect Building, Bristol, UK We had the best time at Bristol’s biggest @wingfestuk last weekend, sampling wings from some of the best traders from across the UK. The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing and the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing! Some of our favourites from the day: *Bourbon sticky toffee apple glazed wings with brown butter miso caramel by @gurtwings *Marmalade burnt toast and Marmite BBQ wings by @gingerwingsmarlow *Bourbon old fashioned BBQ wings by @hillbillys_streetkitchen *Sweet & sticky BBQ with crushed pork chicharron by @djangossmokehouse We started the day strong with Bristol legends Gurts Wings and their Wild Wing ended up being our joint overall winner! The wings were absolutely phenomenal and definitely lived up to the hype. It’s days like this that remind us why @wingfestuk is one of our favourite weekends of the year! Manchester Wingfest is up next, followed by Wingtoberfest in Nottingham, an Octoberfest collaboration you didn’t know you needed!
