Bucket list item checked off the list with a trip to the world famous Nitto factory in Fukushima. What a treat to get to meet these masters at their craft. So much incredible history in these buildings. Humbled and honored to have been hosted by the Yoshikawa family and their staff, as they celebrate their 100th anniversary of producing some of the cycling industry’s most iconic and timeless products. taken in Fukushima Japan by @scsmith44

A walk back in time at Jack London’s property and home in Sonoma County. Haven’t read any of his wonderful writing in a long time, but the visit to his home has me inspired to revisit some of it. Endlessly impressed with the work that has gone in to maintaining his estate. taken in Jack London State Historic Park by @scsmith44

On it’s best days, this platform serves to shine a light on a joyous event, a life milestone, maybe an accomplishment; to get caught up on the lives of people we care about that we don’t get to see or to speak with as often as we’d like. And today, in that spirit, it gets to serve that purpose for me.

@mmmmhime and I brought this little girl home with us this week and we’re still acclimating to the monumental shifts that becoming parents has already had and will continue to have on our lives. We’re in awe of this new life, our own journey together after all of these years together, the slow evolution of our arrival at this new chapter, and the opportunities and experiences it promises. We’re a little nervous, thoroughly humbled, and endlessly grateful for our community.

We’re also pretty tired. Much love to everyone who has reached out with well wishes, sent flowers, dropped off food, given us early pointers etc. We can’t thank you enough.

Welcome to this wild and wondrous world Emma Iris.
So glad you could make it.

Feel so grateful to get to return to this special corner of the world to watch an old friend get married and reconnect with this landscape with some people I hold dear. So many great memories during different chapters in my life that feel tied to this place. Thankful for making the effort and putting these days in the book of life. Excited to know I’ll get back here again. It really never disappoints taken in Grand Teton National Park by @scsmith44

Just got back to Portland after 10 days out in the Northeastern United States after visiting some @simworksusa dealers, hanging out at the @phillybikeexpo for the weekend, and touring around with @4ge0404 and @charries_cafe in some gorgeous rural countryside locales and some iconic American cities steeped in a ton of history. The gallery here is somewhat of an homage to @4ge0404 who came all the way from Nagoya, Japan where @simworks and @circles_jp are based. @4ge0404 , I just wanted to say thank you for making the trip, and for being a great travel companion, friend, hard worker and outstanding ambassador for what we do. I am constantly impressed with your great attitude and your willingness to roll with all situations with a smile and a willingness to learn and experience. You’re a pleasure to be around. All of us in the @circles_jp and @simworks family are so fortunate to have you. I hope this post finds you safe and sound back home in Japan and that we get to see you again soon. taken in New England by @scsmith44

11 years ago, in late August, just 4 months after Mickaela and I hade made the move to Portland, the Dollar Lake fire ravaged a large swath of the northern slope of Wy’East between Elk Cove and Cathedral Ridge. Vista Ridge bore a significant brunt of the fire. Yesterday, we got out and explored this zone and the condition it exists in now, 11 years later. Wallace was emphatic we make the trek to Cairn Basin and negotiate Ladd Creek a couple times. The canopy fire devastated most of the conifer tree cover along the ridge leaving a ghost forest of standing trunks- which affords almost eerie views of Wy’East’s northern slopes. The forest is healing slowly but surely. Color, Clarity, and Vibrancy were all fully amplified and I can’t overstate the abundance, variety or beauty of the wildflowers in Cairn Basin and Eden Park right now. Worth the trek out there- for certain taken in Oregon by @scsmith44
