The Dark World of Sxmpra 🦇
New Zealand’s flithiest Drift Phonk rapper, Sxmpra, has been making waves in underground circles since earlier this year after he dropped his latest EP, THE EVIL IN WHICH WE THRIVE, back in February. From his meticulous beat selection, to his obvious influences from metal and hard rock music, down to his lightspeed flows that have fans losing their breath trying to keep up; it is clear Sxmpra’s style is incredibly calculated.
Despite the massive success in recent times, music wasn’t the original path Sxmpra planned to take. Originally, he had been studying film at a University in Hamilton, New Zealand. But when he realized that the traditional path wasn’t for him – he quickly got to work at carving himself a lane in the rich, 90’s memphis hip hop inspired genre that is Phonk.
After the release of his EP, he followed up with his biggest single to date ‘COWBELL WARRIOR!’, which to date has amassed more than 124 million plays on Spotify alone. As if over nearly 125 million plays in a month wasn’t enough, The song was also recently remixed by none other than Soundcloud pioneer Ski Mask the Slump God.
Catch Sxmpra on tour in the United States with headliner Haarper starting October 6th, in Phoenix, Arizona.
