Equipped to Serve | Day 3 Recap
Church Officers Summit
Port Harcourt West Conference
Day 3 focused on the office of the Church Clerk, highlighting the standards that ensure order, accuracy, and accountability in church administration.

Key areas covered included:
• Understanding the Church Manual as the guide for policy and procedure
• Proper minute-taking that captures decisions, not side discussions
• Accurate management of membership records and transfers
• Timely and clear reporting for conference and camp meeting use.

Conference leadership emphasized structure, collaboration, and alignment with church organization as the foundation for unity and effective ministry.

Key takeaway:
Strong ministry is built on disciplined administration. When Clerks handle records, reports, and policy faithfully, the church functions with clarity and credibility.

📍 EQUIPPED TO SERVE — DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Church Officers Summit 2026

Day two of the Equipped to Serve Church Officers Summit of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Port Harcourt West Conference was a deeply impactful and enlightening session, focused on strengthening church leadership, structure, and accountability.

Today’s Presenters:
▪️ Pst. Richard Woke
▪️ Pst. Odinyebuchi Solomon Okonu– Conference President, PHWC

🔑 KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Leadership as a Spiritual Calling
Church officers were reminded that leadership in God’s house is rooted in spirituality, integrity, prayerfulness, and faithfulness.

Clarification of Church Offices & Roles
Clear explanations were given on the responsibilities and boundaries of key church offices to promote order and effectiveness:

▪️ Elders – Spiritual oversight, member nurture, support for the pastor, and maintenance of order in worship.
▪️ Deacons & Deaconesses– Practical service, welfare support, church care, and assistance during ordinances.
▪️ Church Clerk/Secretary – Accurate record keeping, documentation, minutes, and official correspondence.
▪️ Treasurer & Finance Officers – Financial stewardship, accountability, transparency, and adherence to church policies.
▪️ Departmental Leaders – Vision-driven leadership aligned with the mission of the church and collaborative teamwork.

Unity and Church Structure
Emphasis was placed on respecting constituted authority, working within the church’s structure, and fostering unity for mission effectiveness.

Servant Leadership
Leaders were encouraged to model Christ-like leadership—serving with humility, love, patience, and sacrifice.

Service in God’s work is a divine calling, not a human appointment. At the Equipped to Serve session, church officers were encouraged to lead with humility, remain grounded in personal devotion, and advance the mission through intentional evangelism and unity with church leadership.

OUR LITURGY, OUR IDENTITY | WORSHIP SUMMIT 2026

Today’s Worship Summit, themed “Our Liturgy, Our Identity,” was a powerful and enriching experience for us as a local church. As an uplink center, SDA GRA 1 was privileged to host and stream this impactful program, connecting with worshippers across churches while also strengthening our own understanding of worship.

From the presentation, we were reminded that liturgy is not mere routine—it is a reflection of who we are, what we believe, and how we relate with God. Key lessons emphasized:

* Worship must be Bible-centered, intentional, and Spirit-led
* Our worship practices should clearly reflect *Adventist identity and theology
* Excellence in worship requires preparation, order, and reverence, not noise or performance
* Every department plays a role in creating a worship atmosphere that honors God

Beyond the encouraging engagement and reactions on our media platforms, this program was also a learning curve for the Communication Department of SDA GRA 1—highlighting areas of growth in coordination, live streaming, audience engagement, and digital outreach. We are grateful for the lessons learned and the progress made.

We sincerely appreciate the leadership of Seventh-day Adventist Church Port Harcourt West Conference for the confidence placed in our church to serve as an uplink center for a program of this magnitude.
