haven't had too much to catch up post summer season but uh....i work at a bar now! not just any bar. my dear friends' @foxxdave and @shannonraff 's bar, @518craft . i'll be here all night tonight and we're about to get Open Mic rolling pretty soon.

i'm still very much on Cloud 9 and processing but....here's to this amazing team. this gaggle of artists. this family. i have SO many emotions, thoughts, memories, etc. that i could go on and on about but i'll just say...i love my job.

sharing this story is something i could do for the rest of my life. you could feel the energy pulsating in this room. it was electric. everyone and everything felt so connected and alive.

that's why i do this. to help people rediscover the beauty of humanity and what we can do when we choose love over hate.

(it wasn't letting me tag EVERYONE so if i missed you, know that i love you dearly and i cannot thank you enough for everything you do. you know who you are~ 💜)

now that i have a moment to come down to the ground...

this week....i am honestly having a really hard time putting it into words. i started work on a show that i told myself i would do the moment i saw the opening number in Toronto a few years ago. i celebrated my birthday doing what i love and ending it surrounded by my beloved family.

i'm feeling so fulfilled in quite literally every aspect of my life right now. i feel like i'm starting a new chapter. i feel so much warmth and love coarsing through my body. and i know there's a lot of pain in the world. i do not take this for granted. i just hope that in telling this story and sharing this warmth where i can, it will ripple throughout this beautiful sea of stars we find ourselves drifting in~

~a little context~

i ended up with a nice little week off in the midst of my summer season (to recenter and refocus) and originally, i was going to take a trip to see some friends on Bear Mountain. unfortunately, we had to reschedule so my plans got a little wonky.

with some advice from friends (and my lovely wife) i decided to use the time for what will excite and recharge me. right now? that's diving into a new project i'm dying to get onto paper. i've shared little tidbits here and there but not very openly or publicly. but it's possessed me. i haven't experienced anything like this since Antonio and even that....that was different in it's own exciting way. i've poured page after page of just uncensored thought into a smattering of Google Docs and before i dive into my research or even consider writing a syllable of dialogue, there's something i need to read...

Stephen King is one of my absolute favorite writers. full stop. as such, this memoir has been on my tbr for quite some time. but i had been so caught up in trying to read thru his stories, i always said "i'll get to it".

well....guess i'm getting to it. let's go on a trip.

what's that?? why yes! yes i did, in fact, close a show on Sunday. oh...oh another opening?? yes, yes i'll take another please! oh...2 days later huh?...alright then...challenge accepted~

it's been a whirlwind but this summer has been such a gift. i'm challenging myself. i'm surprising myself. and yet...there's even more to come...

happy opening Trapped! congratulations to @tstrader4. he has crafted a beautiful show that is both personal and something that anyone and everyone can connect to. it's scary taking a leap like this and putting something so close to you in front of hundreds of people. (trust me, i know lol) but, the leap was worth it. kudos Trevor. i'm so happy our paths crossed and i get to be a part of this. it's special. 💜

and to the rest of team TRAPPED! thanks to: @marthabanta for being a stalwart and inspiring leader in the midst of the chaos that is summer stock theatre.
@thetraceysullivan for your constant support and willingness to do anything and everything for this artform and this company. even if it is just making us crack a smile~
@drewwutke for l i t e r a l l y going coast-to-coast and jumping right into the mix like it was nothing. i have no clue how you did it but you did. pretty good first impression if you ask me ;p
and of course the ENTIRE ATF staff and intern team. it's a privelege watching y'all work and making these miracles happen.

oh....and thanks to Paul De Boy for the best SM socks ever hehehe

alright, that's enough out of me. (seems i need to write an essay whenever i post now lmao)

we opened a show y'all!!

i'm so thankful to be a part of this season. this show in particular is just so exciting and to finally be sharing it with audiences??? this is why we do it. why i do it.

the conversations bubbling around me all through the night reaffirmed everything that i originally set out to do as an artist. let art ignite that fire in your gut. be inquisitive. be bold. say something.

much love and thanks to @marthabanta for bringing me on board and being such an open and caring leader, to @thetraceysullivan for her pure, unadulterated joy that never fails to brighten a room, to @livv_dybas, @genevaoffbway, @alexandra.cookee, @bcbofficial, and @wiley_sara_ for being some of the most amazing and welcoming admin, production, and creative folk i've ever worked with, to @laura.menzie and @pauladeboy for their courage, comedy, and companionship throughout this process, of course to the rest of the creative team, Gary, Taylor, and Chris, thank you for entrusting me with the stewardship of your designs, and i'd be remiss if i didn't thank the intern company and all of their hard work.
