An unforgettable night at the Red Line Book Festival with Cecelia Ahern and Ryan Tubridy🌟

The audience was treated to a fascinating conversation about Cecelia’s books, from the phenomenal success of PS, I Love You to her latest novel Love Unlocked. She shared the inspiration behind her stories, her writing journey, and the characters that have captivated readers around the world.

The fun is happening now at the Red Line Book Festival!

There’s something for everyone, with lightsaber duelling, green screen adventures, face painting, sensory exploration sessions, and so much more.

Don’t miss Alan Nolan’s theatre show at 12pm and 3pm today and tomorrow. You can also take photos with Rolo the Owl and meet Dave the Raven!

✨ It’s a wrap on ReelFlamenco! 💃🎶

What an absolutely fantastic night at The Civic, Tallaght! Irish and flamenco dance, music and song came together in a celebration of heritage, collaboration and shared musicality.

A huge thank you to dancers Louise O’Sullivan and Juan Carlos Avecilla, all our wonderful musicians and singers from Ireland and Spain, and everyone who joined us and made the evening so special.

Our thanks also to the Red Line Book Festival, The Civic, and SDCC Libraries and Arts - it was a night to remember!

Tallaght Library was absolutely delighted to host a collection of children's books from and about Palestine, in a collaborative initiative led by IBBY UK @ibbyuk_organisation to honour the voices and cultural heritage of the Palestinian people through children's literature. The books purchased were funded by IBBY.

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is a non-profit organisation which represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together.

The collection was launched in Tallaght Library by SDCC Mayor Francis Timmons @cllr_francis_timmons who is pictured with Kathleen and Jane from IBBY, Acting County Librarian Síle Coleman and Branch Manager Liz Corry. by @sdcclibraries

SDCC has been notified of a 24-hour national day of industrial action taking place on Wednesday, 14 October 2026.

As a result, all Council buildings, including libraries will be closed to the public and significant disruption to services is expected. Council phone lines and cash offices will be closed for the duration of the industrial action. Limited services will operate only where emergency arrangements have been put in place.

Members of the public can continue to contact the Council by email at info@sdublincoco.ie or through www.sdcc.ie. In the event of an emergency, please call 01 457 4907.

Libraries are expected to resume services from 9.45am on Thursday, 15 October 2026.
