October 3, 12 and 25 CoLab is offering Laser Basic Operation and Safety workshops. Learn how to use the laser cutter/engraver safely and effectively for your art projects. This is a required class in order to use CoLab’s laser cutter/engraver for art projects.

The class starts with a lecture in the classroom, about 90 minutes. We’ll cover all the basics, and touch on some more advanced subjects you should be aware of as you become more familiar with laser operation and want to do more ambitious projects in the future. After a short break, we will gather in the laser room to get some hands-on experience. LINK IN BIO taken in SD CoLab: An arts collaborative workspace by @sdcolab

Heading to Burning Man with these gifts to give and connect with people. Definitely pushing some of my skills (and creating new ones!) to make this one.

This year's theme is Axis Mundi and the design is inspired by other's work that have come before me. Also a shout out to all of the amazing makers at the Burn that have inspired and helped me grow in my own craft.

Many thanks to @flyingoctophant for the late night collaboration and @fiveafternine for also supporting my shenanigans. Love you both!

If you are headed to the burn and find me, please say hi!

With enormous gratitude to the Axion Seed build crew: Clint B, Dan, Jack, Joseph, Karly, Soxy, and Vic, and with invaluable help from Amos, Christopher, Clint S, Cody, Dave, Rebecca, Rob, Tariq, Valentino, Wallace, Will, Wuffy, and Zach.

Special thanks to Five Ton Crane for their generous donation that helped make Axion Seed possible, to everyone who supported and contributed to the project, and especially to Christopher Schardt for sharing his warehouse workspace and for his patient guidance on the use of his many metal working tools.

Come see us at Burning Man 2026 - 2:00 side, not far from the Man!

CoLab is inviting you to help shape the future of the space with two new ways to get involved: the CoLab Operations Team and Advisory Team. These teams are designed to support the strong foundation already built by CoLab’s current leadership, staff, and contributors while creating more opportunities for shared effort, fresh ideas, and sustainable growth.

The Operations Team will help with the day-to-day care and coordination that keeps CoLab running, while the Advisory Team will offer guidance, perspective, and support for the bigger picture of where CoLab is headed. You do not need previous leadership experience to apply. If you care about CoLab, communicate well, follow through, and want to support the community, we encourage you to apply by July 15.
