One of my favorite images, this is called “Mountain Twilight”. I shot this photo at The Watchman in Zion National Park. That’s the Virgin River below. This area is now off limits to photographers due to the massive crowds at sunset. What you can’t see are the other 300 photographers all around me. Getting there early paid off! “All Aboard” was taken near Wheeler, Oregon along the Oregon coast. This was a “Photographers Tour” where they stopped the train, we departed, it backed up, then sped forward for us to take our shots. Such fun! This is the beautiful Falls Creek Falls in southwest Washington. “Peek-a-Boo” is a shot of the St. Johns Bridge in Portland. The construction of the bridge began a month before the stock market crash of 1929 and provided many county residents with employment during the Great Depression. Because of its proximity to the Swan Island Municipal Airport, some government officials wanted the bridge painted yellow with black stripes for higher visibility from the air. County officials waited until St. Patrick’s Day, 1931, to announce that it would be painted green. The bridge is named for the community at its east end, St. Johns, which was originally an independent city but was annexed by Portland in 1915. This image is titled “Into the Abyss”. Sitting on the edge of the Oregon coast near Cape Perpetua, a gaping, seemingly bottomless sinkhole swallows the unbroken stream of seawater around it. Thor’s Well, as the natural wonder is known, is not actually bottomless. It is, however, very dangerous.
