Madison SDS calls on the Wilcots Administration and UW-Madison to push further and implement concrete policies to protect our students from the DHS and Trump’s racist militarized goons in ICE. We need a university that doesn’t just oppose the restrictions, but bares its teeth to fight back and isn’t afraid to win against the MAGA agenda!

Sanctuary Campus now!
Dare to Struggle! Dare to Win!

Madison SDS and National SDS
reiterates the cries for justice and accountability, and we urge the people of Madison, of Wisconsin, and of the whole country to take action. We would like to amplify the demands of experienced community organizations such as Freedom Inc., who for years have struggled for stronger Police Civilian Oversight as well as Community Control Over Police. From the Capitol to the campus, from MPD to UWPD and beyond, killer cops must be held to account. by @sds_madison

This past weekend Madison SDS took to the streets in a 7-passenger minivan on the road to the 20th annual national convention of the New Students for a Democratic Society in New Orleans, Louisiana! There we heard from both veterans and newcomers to the struggle, connected with our fellow SDSers from across the country, passed resolutions to reinforce our firm pro-people positions, and elected the leaders that will carry us through the coming period.

Bradley, the Chair of our chapter, and Lizbeth, our Outreach chair led a workshop to pass on lessons from our ongoing Sanctuary Campus campaign.

We heard stories of the struggles and success of others who have carried out similar campaigns.

We raised our voices in unison along with our national President!

We had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of New Orleans.

We heard from friends and allies engaged in the struggle for Black liberation and Socialism.

We rallied with @_noship and @frso.nobr to demand the release of Nicolas Maduro and Celia Flores.

Pictured here is our newly elected Treasurer leading anti-war chants.

The weather was brutal,

but we found comfort and camaraderie with our fellow SDSers.

Here’s to another year of fighting! 🥂 See you next year, @nationalsds !

Thank you to everyone who came out to the vigil on Thursday! With at least two ICE detentions on the North side of Madison in the past two days, it’s as important as ever that we continue to show up for our neighbors and resist ICE terror.
Dare to struggle! Dare to win!

Madison, WI – Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison gathered in Library Mall, September 16, for the first protest for a sanctuary campus of the semester. Madison Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) led the protest, joined by the Black Power Coalition (BPC), United Faculty & Academic Staff, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.

The event began with a call for students to fight back against ICE and Trump's reactionary policies. Like many cities across the U.S., Madison has seen an uptick in ICE activity. On the day of the rally, federal agents were reported in South Madison, further cementing the need for sanctuary policies.
