Three South Dakota State University professionals were recently honored with the Distinguished Contributor Award from Chi Sigma Alpha International Honor Society for Student Affairs in recognition of their outstanding contributions, leadership and commitment to student success.

The SDSU chapter of Chi Sigma Alpha selected Jody Owen, senior director of the Student Success and Opportunity Center; Kayte Haggerty, advisor in the Ness School of Management and Economics; and Jessica Lewis, advising and recruitment coordinator in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, as recipients of this distinguished honor. Each recipient has demonstrated a sustained commitment to supporting students, advancing academic success initiatives and strengthening the university community through their service.

Southeast Technical College invites you to the 2nd Annual Breakthrough: A Convergence on Mental Health, a free community event featuring internationally recognized physician, researcher, author, and first-ever Surgeon General of California, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris.

Supported by the Seed for Success Foundation and in partnership with Avera Behavioral Health, Breakthrough brings nationally recognized experts to South Dakota to inspire meaningful conversations around transforming mental and behavioral health systems towards prevention, healing, and resilience. Dr. Burke Harris will provide a keynote presentation followed by a free book signing. A free book, The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity, will be available to the first 150 guests to arrive at the event.
