I'm currently working on these couple of critters to add to my growing collection beetle buddies. The left is a blister beetle, the right is a 22 spot ladybird.
Nature nerd fact: the 22 spot ladybird (a yellow ladybird), doesn't eat aphids like most of it's other ladybird cousins, instead it consumes mildew on plants, so it's a strict Veggie 🤓🌿

THIS COMING SATURDAY, AUGUST 1st AT THE LOCK IN GALLERY! (Little Western Street, opposite the Robin Hood Pub) 7pm until late.

I've been selected to be one of the artists exhibiting in the GOBBLEDEGOOK exhibition: "Paint, Code and Chaos', alongside some amazing local artists who produce work in a diverse range of mediums.
Other artists include: Team Robot, Rarekind, @cronegarden Scarlet Ostick, Nusensist, Kate Philips, Loom, Skotnot, Jewels J, J Wheeler, G and Ray Cathode.

Here's some of the stages of the two stencil Barn Owl screenprint I was working on. The first 2 photos are the stencils I was cutting, the third is a rough drawing with markers to try and work out a colour scheme and colours to blend when printing. I'll post the finished print soon, but I have some other news imminent!

Here's the t-shirt I printed at the screenprinting on the @artspacebrighton fabric workshop at @eastsideprint.
It was made by cutting 2 paper stencils and aligning them.
Thanks @cath_bristow_prints for helping me with the process, and your friendly, expert guidance on helping our Artspace Brightom members realise their ideas. We all had a great time!

I had a great time on Monday at a screenprinting on fabric workshop with @eastsideprint_brighton which i took some of my fellow @artspacebrighton members to.
I had a go at making a design by cutting out 2 paper stencils with a scalpel.
Here you can see the finished tote bag, and a couple of stages from the printing process. I also printed onto a tshirt which came out differently which I'll share in a separate post. Thanks @cath_bristow_prints for helping us realise our ideas. We all had a great time!

Sketchbook drawing work in progress using a fineliner pen. As I was drawing this, the lyrics from the Akasha song that I have looped with this post came into my mind. It's a beautiful mellow track. Personally I think they both fit really well.

Another wonky mandala ( before I learned how to make symmetrical ones) sketchbook 'zendoodle' from around 10 years ago. I didn't finish it as I was unhappy with it at the time, I quite like colours now, and the design has grown on me a bit. I might finish it. Made using watercolour pencils and karisma colour pencils on 20cm x 20cm paper.

Another wonky mandala 'zendoodle' sketchbook drawing (before I learned how to make symmetrical ones) from around 10 years ago. It's unfinished as I was unhappy with it at the time. I like the colours, so maybe I'll finish it. 21cm x 21cm. Made using watercolour pencils and karisma colour pencils ( sadly no longer produced)

So I've been pretty unproductive for the past couple of months for various reasons. I've done a few pieces that I've started and haven't finished, which i didn't feel were worthy enough to share. I've decided to post these as is in upcoming posts, as well as some old sketchbook stuff that i'm not particularly enamoured with. Because I realise that just because I'm not keen on something doesn't mean that everyone else won't be either.
This is one from about 10 years ago. It started off as a wonky mandala, but now i see it as some sort of other worldly entity. A curious and benign being. You can always tell by the eyes
