As we lay my dear mom to her eternal rest yesterday, so many things sped through my mind and heart.

As I looked around during her funeral on Tuesday, I couldn’t help but wonder if everything I had put together was enough—if it truly honored her the way she deserved. I wondered if she would like the picture arrangements and the flowers and the food and the reception. Would she like her white casket and the red roses 🌹 on top of it. Would she like her resting place on the hill with a beautiful view of downtown and the ocean. She deserved nothing but the very best, and all I ever wanted was to give that to her, all the way until the end.

Countless people from far and wide came to say goodbye to her and it was a reminder to me of just how special she was to so many people. She wasn't just our mom, she was a grandma, a sister, a cousin, a tia, a comadre, a friend...

Words spoken at her mass will always stick with me, how fortunate we all are for having had her in our lives. I had her for 47 years, some more years, some less years, but regardless of how much time anyone had with her, everyone lucky enough to have met her understands the impact she had in their lives. She was truly a unique person who you rarely meet in a lifetime. She was the epitome of love, life and home.

She gave me life, and I will continue to honor her by loving and living the life she sacrificed for me and my siblings, and wanted us to have. I will continue to do right by her and make her proud until my last breath.

So many came to me with hugs, condolences and kind words. Some even told me that through the years the envied her at times, because of what she had, the unconditional love and unity from her family. And I don't fault them because the bond me, Samantha Love and Ale Jimene had with our mom was strong and unshakable, and is the same bond we have with each other. The insurmountable loss of our mom we'll never get over, but we are indeed fortunate to continue on surrounded by the love of our family and friends.

Realized recently that in the past couple of years I've taken less "selfies" than in the past. For whatever reason, feelings about aging, life roughing me up, blah blah blah. Anyway, I'm 48 now and my mom was in my head yesterday reminding me as she did every year that "I was her very first Mother's Day gift 💝" So as I remeber her words and her consistent reminders to me of how proud she was of me, I can't help but be grateful for another year of life thanks to her and I'll continue to try and make her proud for as long as this life will allow me to. Thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes yesterday 🤗. by @sdxicana

Oaxaca era su segundo hogar, es donde siempre le gustaba pasar el mas tiempo posible y le encantaba llevar a sus nenes King y James desde que estaban chiquitines para que tambien fuera el lugar favorito para ellos.
