What feels different about this birthday?

I no longer wonder if I’ll make it.
Somewhere within me, I know I will—
not because I know what tomorrow holds,
but because I know who holds tomorrow.

And even if life unfolds
differently from everything I prayed for,
I think I will still be at peace.

Because when my journey finally reaches its end,
I hope I can look back and smile, knowing
I was given more than enough:

one life,
one journey,
and one good God
who never left my side.

And perhaps that has always been enough.

Scientists don’t just discover new things—they develop habits that help them navigate everyday life. One of the greatest lessons is to embrace failure as feedback rather than defeat. They stay curious, ask questions, and remain open to changing their methods when results don’t match expectations. Instead of relying on memory, they document ideas and progress, making it easier to reflect and improve. Scientists also value evidence over assumptions, teaching us to think critically before forming opinions. Most importantly, they understand that growth is a continuous process. By being curious, resilient, disciplined, and willing to learn, we can approach life’s challenges with greater confidence and make steady progress every day.

Research has a way of changing you long before it changes the world.

People often see the published paper, the conference presentation, or the successful experiment. What they don’t see are the countless failed trials, the long hours in the laboratory, the endless troubleshooting, and the moments of wondering whether you’re making any progress at all.

Almost a year as a research assistant has taught me that science isn’t just about discovering new knowledge but its about becoming a better person.

It teaches patience when results don’t go as planned, humility when your hypothesis is wrong, and resilience when you have to start over. It reminds you that breakthroughs are rarely the work of one brilliant mind but the result of collaboration, generosity, and people willing to share what they know.

I’ve also learned that kindness belongs in every laboratory. The best researchers I’ve met are not only skilled with experiments but also generous with their time, encouraging with their words, and willing to help others grow.

Research is a journey of small steps. Every notebook filled with observations, every failed experiment, every discussion with a mentor, and every tiny improvement adds up to something meaningful.

To everyone pursuing science: stay curious, keep asking questions, embrace failure as part of learning, and never underestimate the power of consistent progress. The world changes because of people who refuse to stop searching for better answers.
