This National Cadet Week, we thank all the corporate partners and employers who are helping Sea Cadets to give young people skills for life.

Whether supplying food and water for cadet events and activities or providing support for our offshore fleet and boat stations, our charity could not provide the incredible experiences we offer without your contributions.

Employers also have a crucial role to play, by signing the Armed Forces Covenant (with its commitment to supporting cadet groups) and giving employees additional leave to carry out community youth work as Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

Marine Society & Sea Cadets are calling for five days of statutory volunteering leave for each employee – so that even more people can volunteer to support cadets across the UK. We therefore salute those who are already going above and beyond, such as Cummins – who give Cadet Force Adult Volunteers 10 days of additional leave.

Read more at the #linkinbio about how Cummins supported one Teesside District volunteer and provided the facilities that allowed @darlingtonscc to become our newest affiliated unit in July.

Being a cadet is about so much more than attending each week – it's about discovering what you're capable of.

This National Cadets Week, we're shining a light on the skills a typical unit @sevenoaksscc gives their cadets - from getting potential Navy aviators ready for take-off, to helping sailing stars chart their course towards Olympic competition. Every parade night is an opportunity to develop a lifelong skillset comprising communication, leadership, teamwork and resilience. The lessons and attributes they gain will stay with them long after their time in cadet uniform.

Across the UK, our volunteer-led units are unlocking potential, opening doors and creating brighter futures. By delivering skills for life, we are proud to be helping every cadet find their chance to shine.

Head to #linkinbio to read more on how being part of Sea Cadets has impacted four of our impressive young people.

What would you do in an emergency?

At Sea Cadets, young people learn life-saving first aid skills, then put them to the test through realistic training and national competitions that build confidence, teamwork and leadership under pressure.

Those skills don't stay in the classroom. Time and again, cadets have used their training to help others in real-life emergencies, proving that young people can make an extraordinary difference when it matters most.

This National Cadet Week, we're celebrating the cadets who have stepped forward to help others, and the first aid training that gave them the confidence to act. Go to the #linkinbio to read more.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. They support cadet activities, run local units and help thousands of young people develop skills, confidence and friendships.

Coming from all walks of life, they create fun, inclusive environments where cadets can discover their potential. Whether from Armed Forces or civilian backgrounds, their experience and dedication make a lasting difference.

Thanks to these trusted mentors, 76% of cadets say Sea Cadets has improved their day-to-day happiness, while 66% of parents and carers report increased self-confidence in their child.

This National Cadets Week, we celebrate and thank our incredible volunteers for the life-changing impact they have on young people and communities across the UK!

Sea Cadets is enormously proud to be a highly visible force for good in neighbourhoods across the UK – whether cleaning beaches or rivers; supporting veterans and Armed Forces charities; or providing bands and ceremonial displays at public events.

These activities help our young people to develop a sense of service, responsibility and belonging. 70% say that Sea Cadets has increased their involvement with their community (with 80% feeling more ‘community-spirited’), while 83% feel it has improved their ability to help others.

With our training and public engagement rooted in the places we serve, our cadets are empowered to make active contributions which allow them to give back to society and become the community leaders of tomorrow.

National Cadets Week starts today!

We're incredibly proud that HRH The Princess Royal, Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, has sent a special message to launch our big week.

“The first National Cadets Week is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of cadets across all our Services and the difference they make in communities throughout the United Kingdom.

As Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, I have seen at first hand how Sea Cadets gives young people from every background the confidence, resilience and practical skills to meet life’s challenges. It also instils teamwork, responsibility and a commitment to others.

These opportunities would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who give their time, experience and encouragement so generously.

I am pleased to launch Sea Cadets’ celebrations for the first National Cadets Week and send my best wishes to every cadet and volunteer taking part. I hope their example will inspire many more young people and adults to become involved.”

Follow the week and help us celebrate the incredible impact of cadets nationwide using. #SeaCadetsUk #NationalCadetsWeek

A royal milestone for Sunbury and Walton Sea Cadets ⚓

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has officially opened the unit's brand-new headquarters, marking the end of a 13-year journey to create a permanent home for local young people.

Located on the banks of the River Thames, the new facility will help more young people access sailing, rowing, paddlesports and other maritime adventures, while developing confidence, leadership and practical skills for life.

The opening represents a major milestone for the unit and creates a lasting legacy that will support generations of cadets to come.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this vision a reality. 👏

Giving young people the chance to have their voices heard.

This week, sea cadets attended the Labour Party Conference and spoke directly with defence representatives about their experiences as cadets: the skills and confidence they've gained and the difference Sea Cadets makes to young people and communities across the UK.

They met Ministers including Calvin Bailey MP (Minister for Veterans and People), Louise Sandher-Jones MP (Minister for the Armed Forces) and Luke Pollard MP (Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry), as well as former Armed Forces Minister Al Carns MP.

Engaging with decision-makers across the political spectrum helps make sure young people's experiences are heard, and we're proud of how confidently our cadets represented Sea Cadets.

Next stop: Conservative Party Conference.

⚓️ Confidence. Resilience. Skills for life.

We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to Sea Cadets’ National Sailing & Windsurfing Regatta in Southport over the weekend. As our Patron and Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, Her Royal Highness met cadets from across the UK, watched racing on the water and heard first-hand about the opportunities available through Sea Cadets.

For many young people, Sea Cadets is about much more than sailing and competition. It's about stepping outside comfort zones, developing leadership skills, building resilience and discovering new confidence through adventure and challenge.

The regatta showcased the very best of Sea Cadets, with young people testing themselves on the water, making lasting friendships and gaining experiences that help them thrive, whatever their background.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who make opportunities like these possible for thousands of young people across the UK.
