This week in Palau, Argonauts welcomed new shipmates and explored one of the most incredible marine ecosystems on Earth together 🐠🪸🪼🫧🥥

Together, they spent the week exploring everything Palau had to offer—healthy reefs, waterfalls tucked into the rainforest, marine biology in action, sail handling, and the everyday rhythm of life aboard Argo.

From fireworks over Boston to nothing but the horizon 🐟

Just over a week ago, the crew of Vela was marching in Boston’s parade, exploring historic tall ships, sailing dinghies in the harbor, and stocking up on enough snacks to survive weeks at sea.

Now, Vela’s crossing the North Atlantic

Trading city streets for watch rotations, leadership classes, sail handling, fresh tuna caught off the stern, dolphins, whales, and the endless blue of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.

The next stop: Lisbon 🇵🇹⛵

Some days on the water are unforgettable.

Sailing past the Statue of Liberty during America’s 250th celebration @sail4th250 was already a moment our Liberty 250 crew aboard Vela won’t soon forget. Having it captured by our friend and renowned maritime photographer Cory Silken made it even more special.

My expectations have been set to the limit

After crossing the equatorial Pacific, Argo finally dropped anchor in Palau. 🪸🐠🇵🇼

A fitting reward after weeks at sea: diving WWII wrecks, exploring some of the world’s healthiest coral reefs, snorkeling alongside sharks and sea turtles, discovering hidden coves, and earning Advanced Open Water certifications. 🦈🤿🫧

Now, one chapter comes to a close. Some students head home, while others continue on to Bali as new shipmates come aboard. Goodbyes become new hellos, and Argo sets sail once again. 🌺 taken in Palau Micronesia by @seamester

A front-row seat to history. ⚓🇺🇸

This weekend, Vela sailed into Boston for @sailboston, where a fleet of magnificent international tall ships and military vessels gathered in the harbor as part of Sail250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

But while thousands watched from shore, our students experienced it from the water.

For our students, it wasn’t just about watching history unfold—it was about being part of it. Overnight watches brought them into Boston Harbor before they helped dock the boat, cleaned Vela from bow to stern, explored the city, and ended the day watching fireworks from the water.

The iconic ships may have been the centerpiece, but the shared moments behind the scenes are what made this experience unforgettable. 🩵⛵
