POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I don’t know about y’all but the new year for me doesn’t start til February 😆

No disrespect to anyone who has it all figured out by January 1st. I just prefer to spend January doing the work and diving into myself so I can ramp into the year starting February.

Sharing my ambitions for the new year publicly and in a gamified fashion for accountability. (Shout out to @vivleow and @theplayrxcure for the inspiration).

Shared a little bit of details on two of the bigger current focuses in this list that I need peoples help with. Launching of @compost_compose my new endeavor into centering more sustainability in my practice and the next iteration of Drawing Quest which received a NYSCA grant to expand the project into new formats and produce a body of work that @bybelter and I aim to showcase through exhibition and publication.

Thanks for following along excited to see you all in the new year! by @sean_suchara

A sneak peak of what y’all missed last night at my lecture at Cooper Union 👀

Thank you to @studentlectureseries for inviting me to come talk and enjoying hearing about the weird and wild journey that’s gotten me to where I am now. Was very gratifying to get to spend sharing all the dots my time with @nyreviewofarch has connected for me and the many ideas I’ve explored across my career. Truly couldn’t see myself being where I am without the trust they’ve put in me these past 3+ years.

If you wanna see this talk let me know :) would be fun to do again.

Thank you @belindalindalin for moderating and @divineeprovidence for reaching out to me in the first place. taken in The Cooper Union by @sean_suchara

1 year ago @macsealband dropped Permanent Repeat. A fantastic album that I had the honor of doing the Art and Design for.

The band was drawn to my collage work and we collaborated to use it as medium to explore and abstract the albums themes and vibes into one image. Creating something intimate and comforting through bold colorful paper scraps and a hand written type treatment that makes the design feel like something in the corners of someone’s notebook. I emphasized pushing the fidelity of everything so on the vinyl it looked like it was collaged straight onto the sleeve. I then got to translate all these elements across merch and promotional material including a coffee tin!

Growing up album arts and music inspired so much of my art and sent me down the path I’m currently on. Beyond grateful to get to work on this amazing album for a fantastic band who put so much trust in me and my work. Looking forward to doing more projects like this 👀

Now if you need me I’m gonna be blasting this album on permanent repeat 🔁

Right now feels like a good time to read @sujsokol story for @tractorbeam.earth “Like Salt Marshes, Like Yourself”

A tale of resilience and adaptation in a world trapped in the hazy of a burning world. Grateful to have gotten to illustrate this piece and try to capture the notions of love and sacrifice within this story.

Thank you @elizabeth_goodspeed for the fantastic art direction on this set!

Recently got to contribute illustrations to the branding of @cstsauna a new sauna start up inspired by community and onsen vibes.

With these illustrations I wanted to emphasize a softness and airiness to the lines and shadings. Like the image was being breathed in and out of existence like steam wafting over your in the sauna. To achieve this I worked with a soft pencil on newsprint and leaned into natural smudging on the page.

Thank you to @not__exactly for the amazing trust and direction on these! by @sean_suchara

Greetings Fellow Adventures!

Drawing Quest is back!

For the first workshop of 2026 we’ll be doing something a little special.

Drawing Quest was lucky enough to receive a New York State Council of the Arts Support for Artist Grant

To celebrate the occasion, alongside the workshop, Kelly Belter and I will be giving a talk about Drawing Quest, the workshop, and the larger project behind it. An ongoing visual series of experiments started in 2021 around the question of, how can chance and happenstance play a bigger role in our work, and can it be leveraged to push back against creative block and ideas of how accessible art is?

We’ll be talking about the origins of Drawing Quest, the unique turns of an international collaborative projects, learning to let go when it comes to creativity, and what comes next, as well as showcase the never before seen work that inspired the Drawing Quest workshop.

Join us at the Calling Bell in Huntington, NY on July 19th from 2-4pm.
Snacks and Drinks will be provided! As well as all workshop materials.

Big shout out to Long Island Art Alliance for sponsoring us for this grant!

Still Lives. Lives caught in a standstill 💃

Collaborative series/digital zine with @emhaasch

In an improvised series of collages we took the time to see how our creative process could meet on a single page. Literally and metaphorically overlapping. Embracing the friction that comes from suddenly mashing two flows together and enjoying the many surprises found in the gaps between images. The images themselves feeling like gaps in time and place, snippets of scenes from a whole life lived.

What scenes do you most relate to? Comment below what you see in the work below and if you’d like to see this series in book form! by @sean_suchara

Throwback to one of my favorite collabs with @fanny.luor and a really meaningful project.

In 2020, Fanny and I made a push to help drive awareness around the Bush fires in Australia by offering an illustration as thank you for donations to support the crews tackling the fire.

Each illustration is an Australian flora/fauna piece with native animal accompanied by a native plant they rely on or live beside. The way Fanny and I broke up the work is she created the base shapes of the animals and I added the line work defining details and the flowers. Was a lot of fun and felt very gratifying to put our skills towards something meaningful at the time. Would love to do this more both in terms of style but also using this platform to highlight places and things that I care deeply for like ecosystems and stories that need amplifying.

Each work is digital for coloring and shapes and brush pen for line work. We then took these shapes and used them for a postcard donation series raising aid for Australia as well. Iterating on elements from our base series. by @sean_suchara

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but the cover of the new issue of @nyreviewofarch was drawn in one pencil ✏️

… the entire pencil.

Specifically a STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph 8B, which after much trial and error is currently the defacto pencil of NYRA. At least the work I do for it.

This cover and whole issue was amazing and immensely challenging to work on. Hope you all enjoy it :)
