As I get older and mask less, let my guard down more, and just be the neurodivergent person that I am, I find that more and more people just don’t understand who I truly am and how to deal with me. And I have a difficult time interacting with people without putting on a show. But @therealalexandrabillings and Chrisanne have always understood who I am. I’ve known them for almost 40 years, they are some of our closest friends and always a safe harbor. Along with my husband the four of us can talk about literally any subject, heartily agree or vehemently disagree, and no one ever feels the need to “win” the conversation. They are such fully formed adults, and I treasure their friendship and our 4-hour brunches more than they probably realize. ❤️❤️❤️ by @seanabley

And just like that, I turned 60 years old today. I can tell you 1000% I don’t feel 60! The tattoo on my arm is the dictionary definition of the word “write” copied from my college pocket dictionary that I kept with me for years and years. It seems appropriate that that’s what’s in the foreground, because at this point, I’m probably the busiest I’ve ever been as a writer. I’m also a husband to an awesome guy, a cat dad two adorable cats, a member of a large chosen family, a friend to good people, healthy, and have a pretty great life right now. I’m grateful to have made it to 60 when so many gay men didn’t get the chance, and I’m thankful for the chance at more life than I ever considered possible. And the discounts! YAY!!! I received my QUEER HORROR FILM GUIDE edited by @seanabley and @funwithhorror and so many things to be excited about! When I was a kid I was horrified by horror and also inexplicably drawn to it! As I got older it became one of my favorite genres of film. And as a queer kid myself, I was always seeing references and wondered, “is it just me?” This book is evidence that it was not just me! Love the brown paper wrapping with #ibindyounancy that made me LOL when I pulled it out and then the inscription was immediately recognizable to me as a line spoken by @itsparkerposey (who I adore) in @screammovies 3! Add to that my friend @jeffreyareddick is also in the pages… well… I am feelin like a #kidatchristmas #horror #queerhorror #itscomingfrominsidethehouse by @seanabley

Perfect shirt for the Sunday Scaries. These past two weeks have been very difficult, but during that time I’ve seen people at their best during moments of fear, deep grief, and spirit-crushing anxiety. I’ve been the recipient of multiple unprompted acts of kindness, and I’ve seen resilience manifested in a profound way. I’ve witnessed people who I’ve never seen cry weep openly without shame. And I’ve laughed with people who have pried humor out of the darkest moments. The wax and wane of these past two weeks has been difficult to bear, but I’m grateful to be among people who model the best when times are the worst. This post isn’t about one thing, but rather a general series of events, coupled with just the general state of the world right now. I’ve been more of a spectator to much of it, which I’m thankful for, but my heart hurts for those directly involved. Working out has left me in a contemplative mood, but it’s heads down for the rest of Sunday because I have work due tomorrow. Here’s to a gentle week ahead. by @seanabley
