The GNK Power Droid, affectionately nicknamed the “Gonk” droid by fans (a term that has since become semi-official in Star Wars lore), is one of the most recognizable and simple utility droids in the galaxy. by @seancflaherty

…and this time in walnut. (The little piece at the top will be removed after glue up) This shelf will be available for sale soon. Offering objects for sale online for me is pretty new, so I’m looking forward to my work being available to more people.

From plywood to hardwood. It’s great to see an idea that started years ago finally evolve into a chair. I made a lot of changes along the way and I’m happy with where it all landed.

I’m very excited these planes are going to somebody who’s gonna get some use out of them. I have more than I need and I love when old tools find a new home. Sorry about the reminder about your mortality, but since you have to leave things behind, they might as well not be junk!

3D Printed Pit Droid. Files from @droiddivision Happy with how this project is coming along. I used an old binocular element as well as a piece of plexi that I heated and formed to a shape I liked. Next I want to add a better speaker, tweak the code a bit and Leo thinks I should make it animatronic with some servo motors. by @seancflaherty

*not a sponsored post. Welcome back to Tool of the Day. This low-angle bronze block plane is the gold standard for a reason. It’s heavy enough to dampen vibration but small enough for one-handed precision.

Stanley No. 101, A small-scale block plane, often referred to as a “thumb plane,” manufactured between 1877 and 1958. This specific example features the “Sweetheart” logo on the blade, a hallmark of Stanley’s production era during the 1920s and 1930s.
Technical Specifications:
• Model: No. 101
• Length: 3 1/2 inches
• Cutter Width: 1 inch
• Material: Cast iron body with a red or black japanned finish.
• Blade Branding: Features the “Sweetheart” logo, identifying it as a piece from the 1920–1935 era.
Historical Context:
The “Sweetheart” logo (a heart shape with “SW” inside) was introduced in 1920 to commemorate the merger of the Stanley Rule & Level Company with the Stanley Works. This branding was named in honor of William Hart, the long-time president of the Stanley Works. The No. 101 was designed for light trimming, model making, and fine detail work where a full-sized block plane was too cumbersome.

• Graduations: Marked in 8ths, 10ths, 12ths, and 16ths.
• Caliper: Integrated brass slide for measuring diameters and thickness.
