I guess if you keep showing up, eventually it gets easier, and eventually it gets more fun.

I do feel less stressed after running. But I don’t know when it starts feeling good.

I guess you don’t have to know.

You just have to keep showing up, day after day, and then at some point in time, maybe it becomes fun.

So for now, I’ll just keep showing up. by @seanerictrace

Running is fun?

I always thought it was funny that I’d sit on The Sean Trace Show talking to Navy SEALs, endurance athletes, and some of the toughest people you could imagine.

Meanwhile, I run two kilometers and I’m fucking exhausted.

And honestly, that’s part of why I decided to stop just talking about everything on the podcast and actually get out there and do some of it.

So I’m documenting the whole thing.

Day 1 of 30: run at least 2 kilometers every single day.

Day one is done.

Now we see where this goes.

But yeah… running is supposed to be fun?

Not feeling it yet. by @seanerictrace

I know this is going to sound horrible, but I’ve been doing so many podcast interviews that sometimes my team would post someone, pull me aside to ask about the conversation, and I couldn’t remember it.

That’s awful.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with the guests. It has everything to do with me doing too much and eventually going through the motions.

Right now I’m sitting at the gym exercising.

Normally, at this exact time, I would have been doing my pre workday podcast interview.

Instead, I’m doing sit ups and thinking about how I want to change the way I podcast.

Because life isn’t about more.

More interviews. More content. More money. More followers. More lovers. More whatever.

At some point, more just becomes more.

What matters is depth.

This weekend my wife and I had a date night. We came home and watched a movie with our daughter.

Yesterday I took my daughter to dance class and had probably the best latte I’ve had in a while while I waited for her. Then we went and had Korean barbecue for lunch.

I came home and napped while my family played and did their thing because they knew I was still getting over jet lag.

That evening we went to see the Harry Potter rerelease together.

It was actually my first time seeing Harry Potter in a movie theater.

We watched it in 4DX, and during the Christmas scene at Hogwarts, snow started falling from the ceiling of the theater.

Okay, it was probably foam.

But sitting there with my daughter, it felt magical.

When we got home she was exhausted. I made her bed, got her tucked in, and then laid out her clothes for her first day of school.

I remember every one of those moments.

Because I was actually there for them.

Not physically there while mentally preparing for the next thing.

Actually there.

So I’m not stopping podcasting.

But I am going to do it differently.

I’m moving toward fewer, in person conversations where every guest gets my time, my curiosity, and my full attention.

I think that will lead to better conversations.

But more importantly, I think they’ll be conversations worth remembering. by @seanerictrace

I’m stopping my podcasts.

Well, kind of.

I realized that first and foremost, I’ve been hammering away on interviews. I’ve had so many great conversations with so many people, and I’m incredibly grateful for all of them.

But family time and my own health and wellness are more important than just having more conversations.

And honestly, I feel like at some point we’re getting kind of saturated with podcasts. There is just so much content out there, and even for myself, I’m realizing that sometimes more is not better.

Quite often actually, more is not better.

So what am I doing?

I’m shifting more toward talking head content, leaning into a vlog style, and playing with some new things that I’m going to try with my team.

I will finish up and post all of the interviews that I already have, but I’m not going to be doing anything new remotely anymore.

Everything new will be moving in person.

I still love good conversations. However, I want them to be more real.

I want to show up.

I want to be there with someone.

I want to actually experience the conversation.

And honestly, I want to remember all of them.

That is way more important to me than trying to force myself to have more and more conversations just because I feel like I need more content.

I’m also going to take that extra time and spend it with my daughter and my wife.

I want to exercise.
I want to get back in shape.
I want to take care of my own wellness.

I want to explore my own journey and share that with you guys as I go.

But this is also a bit of a critique of content in general.

There is a lot out there.

And even myself, I’ve been guilty of thinking that more content, more episodes, and more conversations must somehow be better.

I don’t think that anymore.

The reality is that depth and thought are more powerful.

I would rather make fewer things that mean more than constantly make things just to keep feeding the machine.

So I’m not really stopping the podcast.

I’m changing what I want it to be.

Also, apparently stopping remote podcasts means I no longer have to brush my hair. by @seanerictrace

I’ll tell you a secret.

A great wine is great no matter what you drink it from.

Before my team and I went home tonight, we opened an absolutely phenomenal bottle of wine from my friend Kyle at Gloria Ferrer.

I first tasted this wine with my wife at Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma, and it became one of those bottles I never forgot.

Tonight felt like the right time to open it again.

I’m getting ready to head back to Northern California to film my winery documentary, and I wanted to share something special with the people helping me build Barrels & Roots.

What made it even better was that my project manager and podcast creative lead, who edited his first Barrels & Roots episode, finally got to taste the same wine I had experienced with Kyle.

We poured the wine, passed around the glasses, and somehow I ended up with the only glass left.

My daughter’s Pokémon glass.

And you know what?

The wine was still incredible.

There can be so much seriousness around wine. The right glass. The right vocabulary. The right way to drink it.

But sometimes the best wine experience is simply a great bottle, a few people you care about, and a reason to celebrate together.

Even if Pikachu is staring back at you from the glass.

Gotta taste ’em all. 🍷⚡ by @seanerictrace
