Most agencies do what you tell them.

You say you need a website? They build it. You say you need an automation? They make it. Problem is, a collection of completed tasks is not a marketing system.

We start differently.

Before we build anything we establish the strategic foundation - starting with StoryBrand messaging. Because if your message is not clear first then your website might look great and convert nobody. Your automations might run perfectly and nurture the wrong people.

Pretty does not convert. Strategy does.

Once the message is right we act as the general contractor of your entire marketing. Making sure every piece, from the website to the content to the the SEO to the follow up, is built to work together instead of just existing alongside each other.

That is the difference between doing tasks and building a system. seangarner.co by @seangarner

SEO is search everywhere optimization. Five things your business needs to show up wherever your customers are looking.

1. User experience. Your website has to look good and keep people there.

2. Technical SEO. The back end stuff Google sees even when you cannot. Broken back end means Google does not trust you.

3. Content. New pages added consistently. Proving to Google you know your subject matter.

4. Authority. Other trusted websites linking back to yours. Digital referrals that tell Google you are credible.

5. Google Business Profile. Consistent new reviews. Velocity matters more than total count.

Missing any one of these and your SEO is not working the way it should.

Want all five? That's what we build. seangarner.co by @seangarner

If your Chamber of Commerce link goes to your homepage, you're leaving SEO authority on the table!

Here is the fix;

Your Owasso Chamber link (for example) should point to yourwebsite.com/city. Every directory link should point to the specific location page that matches where that directory is based.

Two reasons this matters.

One — conversion. Someone clicking from a local directory is already looking for a business in that area. A dedicated location page confirms immediately they are in the right place. A generic homepage makes them hunt for that confirmation. Most will not bother.

Two — authority. Links pointing to specific pages pass page rank authority directly to those pages. Which makes them stronger in Google's eyes. Which makes them rank higher for local searches in that area.

This is called anchor text optimization. And it is one of the most overlooked backlink details in local SEO.

Check where your directory links are pointing right now. seangarner.co by @seangarner

The plateau is not the problem. It's actually the turning point.

When a sedentary person starts working out they see fast results. Then the plateau hits and they panic - thinking that maybe something broke.

But it didn't! They just went from working out to training. The easy gains are done. Now the REAL work starts.

Marketing works the same exact way:

New clients coming from bad agencies see big early numbers fast. Fixing the basics always looks impressive when the basics were never there.

Then the plateau hits.

And that's the moment I tell every client, "Good! Now we're done cleaning up the mess. Now we actually get to BUILD something."

Most agencies go quiet when the plateau hits. They send a PDF and hope you don't notice. But Sean Garner Consulting will sit down and walk through every number with you.

Remember, the plateau is not where growth ends. It's where it STARTS. seangarner.co by @seangarner

We have no office. Our team is spread across the world.

Yet we have one of the strongest cultures I've ever been part of!

Every morning at 8:30 the whole team gets on a call. And over time - through how I respond, how I handle problems, how I treat people in those daily meetings - they have learned exactly who I am as a leader and what I expect from them.

Some of my team members have been with me long enough that I can tell they have had bad bosses before. The way they ask for something simple, like a day off, tells me everything. I SO hope that every day they work with me they are UN-learning that.

Not everybody on my team shares my faith. But they know what I believe because they can see it in how I lead. They know how I would want a client handled or how I would respond in a hard situation.

Not because I told them but because I SHOWED them.

Culture is not built in an office. It's created in how you show up every single day.

If your SEO agency is not adding new content to your website every single month you are wasting your money!

And if the content they are adding is just copy pasted from ChatGPT - you are STILL wasting your money.

Real content carries expertise. Trustworthiness. The kind of specific knowledge that only comes from someone who actually does this work and has something to say that nobody else could generate in thirty seconds with an AI prompt.

Google is not looking for more content. It is looking for better content; content that PROVES you know your subject matter in a way that is uniquely yours.

What has your agency added to your website this month?

If the answer is nothing — or a generic blog post anyone could have written — that is your SEO problem right there. seangarner.co by @seangarner

"Arms dealer" might sound like a cooler job title than "marketing agency owner", but I'd say I've had some pretty cool experiences even just making content for you guys! by @seangarner

New client. Two months in. Over a hundred percent growth.

They were so excited, but I stopped them because we haven't even started yet.

What they were seeing was not our strategy. It was us cleaning up what their last agency left behind; setting up the basics that should've been there from day one.

Their previous agency set the bar THAT low!

I tell every client the same thing: when I get excited - genuinely excited - THAT'S when you should, too.

We're not there yet. But we will be. seangarner.co by @seangarner

Here's what I wish I'd done when I was starting a med spa:

1. Lock in the full sales funnel before opening. Messaging. Website. Lead generators. Automations. CRM. All of it. Not after you open. Before.

2. Own your SEO keywords early and have your ads ready to turn on the moment the doors open. No scrambling. No figuring it out while you are already paying overhead.

3. Set your packaging and pricing and do not deviate, from clear packages to defined memberships. You want a menu that doesn't change every time a patient asks for something custom. Simplicity scales. Customization does NOT.

4. Be exceptionally clear about who you're hiring. Let potential team members know what kind of environment you're trying to create and what is expected of them.

5. Define your vision, values, and beliefs before you serve your first patient. Every hire, every service, every decision should run through that filter. If you can't articulate what you stand for, you can't build a team (or a whole business) around it.

Most med spas figure all of this out the hard way. YOU don't have to. seangarner.co by @seangarner

There are three types of entrepreneurial marriages.

1. Entrepreneur and a W2 or stay at home spouse. The challenge is the gap. The entrepreneur is living in a world the other person has never experienced and articulating that world across that gap is harder than most people expect.

2. Both entrepreneurs in the same business. Sounds like the dream. Can become a nightmare if two strong people cannot separate their opinions from their relationship. The other danger - the business becomes the whole marriage and nothing else exists between you.

3. Both entrepreneurs in separate businesses. The silo problem. Both so consumed by their own thing that you start drifting without realizing it. Less like partners building together and more like two people running parallel lives under the same roof.

Every version has its own friction. Every version requires its own intentionality.

The grass is not greener in any of them. You just trade one set of problems for another.

Which version are you in right now? by @seangarner

Before every consultation I run a potential client's website through the same tool.

It's a free browser plugin called Detailed SEO from H-Raft. It shows me exactly what their website is telling Google behind the scenes - title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure - all the signals search engines use to decide what a page is about and whether it deserves to rank.

Most business owners have never looked at any of this. And two websites that look identical on the surface can be sending completely different signals to Google underneath. By the time I get on a call I already know where the problems are.

You can do the same audit on your own website right now for free.

Download Detailed SEO. Run it on your site. Find out what Google is actually seeing.

You might not like the answer, but you need to know it. seangarner.co by @seangarner

I am a bold Christian. Everyone on my team knows that.

About half of them share that faith. The other half do not, and they come from a wide range of backgrounds and belief systems from around the world. I didn't hire them despite that; I hired them because they are talented and I believe that the way you treat people matters more than whether they agree with your theology.

I do not use my platform as a boss to push my faith on anyone. But I also don't hide it.

What I hope is that at some point someone on my team who never had a reason to think well of Christianity watches how we operate and has a moment they did not expect.

"Oh. I didn't know Christians were like THAT."

It stems from the way I lead. The way I treat people. The way I try to love regardless of where someone has been or what they believe.

That is the kind of witness I want to leave. Not a sermon - a standard.
