To the Dollar Days

Thank you, Silver Dollar, for the Monday and Wednesday $1 vodka and bourbon nights, the friendships, the chaos, and the memories.

Thank you for always having my back—for giving me a place to come home to and helping me have the freedom to see the world knowing there would always be a place for me when I returned.

Thank you for teaching me to become an insanely fast bartender, letting me park in the back lot, and giving me more stories than I’ll ever be able to tell.

RIP G—thank you for the late-night cream cheese hot dogs and popping in for a Grand Marnier, water bottle street shots, and late night street knowledge chopping it up like peppers and onions.

Thank you to every character, critter, DJ, coworker, and friends who made The Dollar unforgettable. From the streets to the frat bros, the pool sharks , to the sorority girls and all the other scoundrels.

Thank you Calhoun and all the other courageous scallywags who helped secure our little kingdom.

Thank you, Beau, for working the busiest corner in the game with me. Encouraging debauchery.

Thank you, Steve and Doug, for everything, the Kim’s nights, the endless sake, the pool days, late nights, and always supporting me. You guys made it all possible and helped me make my travel dreams come true!

Most of all, thank you for giving me my first opportunity to go from barback to bartender in Charleston. The experience, friendships, chaos, and lessons I gained behind that bar still open doors for me today.

To my Twin

Happy 40th, Twin. (Yeah… I know. How did that happen?)

Alana, growing up with you has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. I’ve watched you become an incredible woman- strong, caring, and always putting your family first. Mom would be so proud of you.

We didn’t get an easy road, and we felt things at an earlier age, experienced deeper grief than most. Life has dealt us a hand so young of uncertainty, challenges, and internal pain. Navigating these cards of life we were dealt would be seemingly insurmountable without your aid. Having you through all of it made it survivable and even more meaningful. You’ve been my constant when things didn’t make sense, and my support when I didn’t feel like I had any.

You’ve never stopped showing up for me even when I probably didn’t deserve it and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.

I love you more than I probably say. Life without you wouldn’t be life at all. Here’s to you and to whatever comes next.

My father stands as one of the most remarkable men I have ever known. His enduring strength, boundless compassion, generosity, wit, and unyielding kindness-even when life throws its curveballs—shows a fortitude that’s nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks, Dad, for being the glue that holds our family together and for always being my unwavering support. Love you more than words can say. Happy Father’s Day!

And a big shout-out to my Floridian family for always showing me an abundance of love and sunshine despite the rain!

Longest standing tradition in my life. Many times I’ve asked why I do it and the answer usually is after all these years why not? 15+ years I believe and it’s fun to participate. It can be humbling as well as confidence inducing as well. For all the chaos it causes to city, I’ll still do it. by @seanji6

On October 4th at 1:20am our family grew just a bit bigger. Welcome to the world Paul my sweet little nephew, we are so thrilled you are here. 94 years is a long time to live and I’m grateful that my entire life up until now had you in it. Rest in peace Grandma Norma. Thank you for all the articles, books, and news snippets you would send me as a child to help nourish my curious mind. Thank you for offering me a plate when I’d come over even though I literally just ate at the Jamaican spot across the street. Thank you for sharing memories of my Dad, Aunt, and Uncle that I’d never know with out you. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and rooting me on no matter how outlandish the endeavor was. Thank you for helping me become the man I am today. Thank you for being you and I will miss you. by @seanji6

A new chapter begins as the door to the previous gently closes. My experience in Florida was abundant in laughter, music, joy, and many lessons that led to growth. What began initially to aid in a transition temporarily and a job opportunity ended up being a longer stay than anticipated. 2 years. Where my moral compass lies and with what I believe in, there was no other call to make to extend my stay. With that it led to share more incredible bonds and memories that are irreplaceable. I also grew wiser and inevitably older. I embrace fully and hold dearly the life changing opportunity I found myself in. Now I returned to embark on recapturing living for myself and the magic that Charleston has to offer. The family, the friends, the city, the love I have for this place. I am thrilled to begin continuing to thrive and shine in a place that I find so much happiness. Happy to be home. I share with you a few of my favorite moments in Florida over the last couple years. by @seanji6

Budapest left a profound impression on me, securing its place among my favorite cities I've ever explored. The beauty of this place, particularly when viewed from the Danube River, mesmerized me, especially the illuminated buildings adorning the riverbanks. With its rich history, vibrant nightlife, and exceptional dining options, Budapest has certainly captivated me, and I am already looking forward to returning to this incredible city.
