Well, WHAT a weekend that was at @muncastercastle ! Got to play a fine set alongside a very well behaved hoss, tickle a very beautiful piano, approved of the castle finery, befriended a small but dedicated droid, discovered a sumptuous library, and saw some truly EXCELLENT sets from @connorbanksmusic @susannahcleggmusic @mountainashtheband and @emiliaquinnmusic ! SURPRISE!!! Here’s a BRAND NEW and simultaneously MEGA OLD album, culled from the vaults. Since I first discovered an ancient, moss and cobweb covered hard drive last summer filled with songs that I’ve written and recorded over the last 30 years, either on my own or with similar misguided individuals, I’ve been trying to figure out how to release them. Many were in formats that were incompatible with modern tech. A lot I just didn’t like - the levels on vocals weren’t right or whatever - and had to be convinced to share (cos deep inside, imposter syndrome, etc). This features the first ever REAL song I wrote all by myself (although Blind Allegiance by Sane Insanity may well hold that crown - anyone got it anywhere?) - Lady Moonshine by The Junkbabies (from 1993!). A few guys trying to see what they could do with a bit of studio space and no sound engineer. Hell, it’s the ballad on the album, you never know, the rest of that six song punky statement may well resurface in its entirety one day… There are other songs that were released but are now cleaned up in all their glory. Anyway, it’s as far from the Springsteen/Country acoustic music I’m playing these days as it’s possible to be, but it’s simultaneously exactly the same. All instruments played by me, except for the last song. Man, my hands got tired very quickly. There’s an acoustic and a country one of these to come, and I’m back in the studio today recording new songs. Man, what a time to be alive. Oh yeah, and One Night Is Never Enough is on it, for those who requested it. Pay what you like for it, but hey, guitar strings are expensive, right? Help a brother keep himself on the road, mate.
