Two years of Grady 🫶🏻🐾

September 21st is Grady’s adoption day! Little did I know how much my life was going to change. This boy is just as stubborn as he is unwaveringly loyal and loving. I was sent the exact dog I needed. I’d like to think he was sent the exact human he needed, too. 😇

Oh, and he definitely grew into his ears (the last two pics are exactly two years apart) 🥹

Grady saw the ocean for the first time today and it was just as magical as you’d expect. 🥹

Watching dogs experience things for the first time is beautiful and I will cherish every first with this guy. 🐾

Happy summer solstice! ☀️ Also, can you see that rainbow? Stunning start to summer!

Grady got all the birthday love!

He told me it was “the doggone best day” and he is so excited to be done with his “puppy phase” as he called it. He’s super self aware.

Love this dog and everything he has given me 🐶😊🐾

Turns out running is pretty great when you have a great running buddy! 😊🐾🐶🏃🏽

I have been getting back into running lately and taking Grady with me. And let me tell ya it’s so wonderful. I was hesitant to run with him for a while because he LOVES to sniff everything on our walks. But turns out he also LOVES to run and stays right beside me.

With the occasional dart towards a squirrel 🤭.

So it’s been almost a year that I’ve had this boy in my life. And at first it was so so so hard. I didn’t think I could do it. I would see people with dogs and I would be so angry at them because it looked easy. But then I took a step back and I realized that I needed to be slower; more patient. My steadiness would teach him to be steady.

Over the last few months I’ve watched him go from a wild rescue puppy who had no listening skills to a young dog (dare I say young human) who understands what it means to slow down and who is now patient with me.

We still have work to do (always room for growth!) and I really really really want to have a conversation. But for now I’ll be content watching SpongeBob with him, carrot within reach, all while my coffee slowly gets cold and I feel him steadily lean in.
