Supporting and documenting the movement, I ended up shoulder to shoulder with extremely talented and dedicated people making revolution of ideas and attitudes seen and heard. This is a celebration of that. Buy now from Aperture Books! https://bit.ly/3ghBefx taken in New York, New York by @seanwaltrous

Repost from @aperturefnd:
A powerful and celebratory visual record of New York City’s contemporary activist movement, “Revolution Is Love: A Year of Black Trans Liberation” (Aperture, 2022) is a moving testament to the enduring power of photography in activism, advocacy, and community.

In June 2020, activists Qween Jean (@qween_jean) and Joela Rivera (@missabolition) returned to the historic Stonewall Inn—site of the 1969 riots that launched the modern gay rights movement—where they initiated weekly actions known thereafter as the Stonewall Protests. Over the following year, the protests brought together thousands of people across communities and social movements to gather in solidarity, resistance, and communion.

Newly released, “Revolution Is Love'' gathers work by twenty-four photographers alongside texts by Qween Jean, Joela Rivera, Mikelle Street, and Raquel Willis in a celebration of shared joy and struggle in trans community and liberation.

Men, and in particular, White men, are overwhelmingly present at an Anti-abortion demonstration meant to dissuade and antagonize people accessing services at a nearby Planned Parenthood.
