We’ve dropped our new conservas for International Women’s Day and celebrate the women who have long been the backbone of the British Fishing Industry. This time we highlight the women who process our Cornish Sardines and have paired this species with the delicious flavours of a Loas sauce made by YoYo x Sea Sisters. Telling the stories of women in this industry is important to us as their contributions have often been overlooked and undervalued. We do this through our special #IWD conservas, alongside the recipe’s from female producers and artwork created by women artists. It’s a special date in the calendar I enjoy working towards every year. I really hope you enjoy it 💚. by @seasistersuk

20th of July 1969 marks the first time humans walked on the moon. We can’t take Sea Sisters to space (apparently the brine makes a mess of the equipment in zero gravity) but we can take it on just about any other expedition, it’s ideal, nutritious, high protein, naturally high healthy fat content and just so delicious. While of our packaging is plastic free, this wrapper is woven from the rubbish washed up on our shores. Textile and fibre artist, @corissa_robinson made this woven work-of-art from old plastic ropes, fishing nets and other plastics found during beach clean-ups. Once you’ve finished this flavour punching can of Norfolk Whelks in @kimchiradish Kimchi Sauce, the packaging is 100% recyclable too. A lovely bit of recipe inspiration from our customers! We enjoy so much reading the different combinations and possibilities for canned fish cooking, we thought we’d pass these on. “I mashed them, added lemon and lemon zest and stirred through bucatini. Weather so hot the freshly cooked pasta was enough to make a perfect sauce. Truly best sardines I’ve ever had.”“I have just made seafood pasta. Freshly cooked pasta with your delicious tinned cockles in chilli and garlic oil, mixed with a simple chopped tomato and basil sauce (from a jar). Absolutely delicious!!! Quick and easy.
