Thank you to Japan Week at Bellevue College for inviting us to perform at your lovely festival once again. Seeing so many people come out and feeling the energy of heads bobbing, hands clapping, and bodies grooving to the rhythm was truly amazing and inspires our spirit. Our bond with this festival runs deep, and we cherish our long history together, having performed here since the days when Japan Week was first celebrated as the Aki Matsuri! Thank you for continuing to host such a wonderful community gathering. #japanweekbc #bellevuecollege #taiko #japaneseculture #festival by @seattlekokon

A huge thanks to the Seattle Asian Art Museum @seattleartmuseum for inviting us to perform during their exciting last Friday celebration! We absolutely loved filling the vibrant after-hours atmosphere with the thunderous energy of taiko, connecting our shared passion for cultural arts with their stunning exhibits. It's always a privilege to amplify the rich artistic heritage of our community alongside such a fantastic institution. #seattleasianartmuseum #summertime #seattlekokontaiko #seattle #japanese taiko by @seattlekokon
What an extraordinary, spirit-lifting experience having @jdryo sensei back with us in Seattle! Having the opportunity to train directly in person with such a world-class performer and award-winning odaiko soloist was nothing short of inspiring. From our large group sessions diving deep into his masterfully crafted compositions to the focused intensity of the small group and semi-private lessons, the energy in the room was electric. 嶋本龍 sensei brought unmatched artistry, precision, and soul to every single moment, sharing his deep knowledge across odaiko, chu daiko, shime/okedo set, and chanchiki with incredible warmth, patience, and passion. A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to @cozyapricots, who traveled all the way from Canada to assist Ryo sensei and provide seamless translation throughout his visit. Her presence, clarity, and dedication made every subtlety of his teaching accessible to everyone, ensuring we didn't miss a single nuance. Experiencing 嶋本龍 sensei’s artistry straight from the source and growing together as a group was truly special. We leave these workshops thoroughly energized, deeply grateful, and ready to carry his power and spirit forward in every strike! by @seattlekokon
What a fantastic morning at Lynndale Park! 🥁🌳 We had a blast bringing the rhythm of taiko to the beautiful amphitheater for the Lynnwood Library’s "Our World" music series. A huge thank you to the Lynnwood Library and @snoislelibraries for hosting us in such a stunning space. It was so special to connect with all of you—and we especially loved seeing the hardworking guide dog puppies in training enjoying the music with their handlers! Thank you to everyone who came out to share this morning with us. #SeattleKokonTaiko #TaikoInThePark #LynnwoodLibrary #OurWorldSeries #CommunityRhythms #GuideDogsInTraining by @seattlekokon
Honoring the past, drumming for peace. 🥁🕊️ We are deeply grateful to @fromhiroshimatohope for inviting Seattle Kokon Taiko back to perform at this year’s remembrance gathering at Green Lake. For years, our paths have crossed in shared community and purpose. Seattle Kokon Taiko is honored to stand alongside this vital annual tradition—held every August to commemorate the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as all victims of war and violence. Through music, reflection, and the moving toro nagashi candle-lit lantern floating ceremony, From Hiroshima to Hope champions a powerful mission of peace, non-violent conflict resolution, and nuclear disarmament. Sharing our art in support of this vision is a profound privilege for our group. Thank you to everyone who gathered, reflected, and helped keep the hope for a peaceful world alive. 🏮✨ Photo credit: From Hiroshima to Hope volunteers by @seattlekokon
