@mightystew asked me to look good for the camera. A while back I was asked to give a photo of me to @strongmind.climbing that could be used as a professional photo with my face on it. I quickly realised i had 0 pictures where my face looked ""professional"". Happy to carry on my tradition with this one. 😁

I was climbing on small holds getting further and further away from the bolt on the last pitch of Dom’s. The rock occasionally crumbled under my fingers and shoes giving the feel of precarious balance that can be broken at any second.

I quickly realised if was to have the smallest of chances to climb this pitch i’d have to become less distracted from this. Ultimately less distracted from falling. I haven’t done any hard multipich this year and i could tell my body was responding to that with a fair bit of tension. I took some breaths and fell off.
After a couple of high altitude flights I felt more relaxed and present.

At the end I didn’t send the pitch, but I had the experience I was looking for.

. Just like pasta sauce, its all about the quality of the ingredients. Rock, sea, food and friends.

This might be the most stuck cam I’ve ever seen 😂

I stopped to take a photo while seconding a pitch because this thing looked HAMMERED into the crack.

At first I thought: yeah, that’s exactly what being stuck looks like.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about that feeling a lot.
Then I realised… maybe I’m not stuck in the same way this cam is.
Maybe feeling stuck isn’t actually about being stuck.

I can freeze even when the holds are there. I am not trapped — I am (over)scanning.
Left hand? High foot? Commit?

Life feels like that sometimes too.

Anyway. Thought this cam had something to say. by @seb_costa_

@matteo_mms and team repeating la banda del buco at l grotta del’addaura Palermo. Insane terrain and position. lucky @viciocostatheking lent me his drone. I'm adding it to my xmass list!

Fun start to the trip. We cycled from porto torres to cala gonone in two days. During which we ate many snacks, met donkeys and cows and enjoyed some pretty jaw dropping scenery.

Climbing conditions have been interesting with soapy rock ( salsedine) . Even if i climbed many pitches in these conditions in Sicily , its always a bit surprising! Chalk lasts about 1 second on your hands and footholds look like polished wet marble. Making you feel focused on any grade! Best climb yesterday was actually a 6b+ with spaced bolts over the sea. Climbing slowly and carefully , sometimes unable to use the holds because of the wetness. Noticing thoughts about slipping and letting them go through.

For sure I don’t think memorable experiences need high grades. Being able to not let the grade dictate my experience has been one of the best things I learnt .

Here are some fun pics of the trip!

A few days walking around 35kg of blackdiamond hardwear between Annot and La tour with @stewart.miller.photo and Matt. Wide cracks, bit of choss, dirty chimneys, perfect splitters. Was a good one for the soul! #climbing #tradclimbing #annot #rockclimbing by @seb_costa_

A perfect day for dry tooling = when everything else is wet 🤪. Fun first day of the season with ice axes in my hands with da boys @stewart.miller.photo @thibautmarot. It’s cool to follow the seasons changing in the vertical realm. I did think about using my hands once or twice 😁

📸 @stewart.miller.photo who apparently had to tone down the purple of my fleece cos it was too purple 🎪

Autumn vibes on Paroi Des Lys. The sun was still a bit too friendly ( we roasted ) but its so cool seeing the colours change in the environment.

I’ve been renovating my house with @edith.blas_ as we lived in it for a few years now and winters are pretty cold as we had no insulation 👌! But today it got me thinking about other animals that are also busy building their dens before winter drops. Felt like i was doing something so natural all of a sudden . And I probably have it pretty good compared to a badger 😁. I can still enjoy myself with pleasure like this route a few minutes from our den 🏠 by @seb_costa_

Preistoria, Palermo. 📍

When I left Palermo in my teens I didn’t climb. And coming back there now and climbing on these cliffs has been a wonderful way to feel more connected to a place where I no longer lived.

Each routes feels more flavoursome for me there, is like I really know im in the right place doing the right thing. It’s the feeling of home that is so hard to found elsewhere.

For a long time I never quite felt at home while climbing, it felt really hard, awkward and super scary, it felt more like a constant battle. It’s amazing how things can change with time and some work. Now I feel at home on a rock. I can always feel at home away from home and I'm super grateful. 🏠

I had the pleasure of introducing some members of the CAI Padova to the world of mental training during a workshop just outside Arco this weekend 😁. I am really grateful to have been invited here and I enjoyed hearing everyone’s thoughts and experiences during the workshop and the following day. The only person momentarily going into the panic zone was me the day after the workshop, after breaking (yet) another hold and all its surroundings... sorry Arco!😬 Thank you to @claudia.mario.fisio for inviting me and the group to welcome me during their trip!
