This was a backyard wedding that dreams are made of. With the wonder of Hanalei Bay as the backdrop and their closest loved ones by their side, it is to imagine a more perfect way to say ‘I do’

Every proposal shoot gets my heart racing a little. The waiting, the watching, the knowing what’s about to unfold while she has no idea, it is both equally exciting and really stressful.

When Michael and Bailey reached out to me about their wedding they mentioned wanting something different from the typical elopement on a beach in Hawaii. They wanted to be surrounded by the majestic beauty of the mountains of Kauai.

The mountains hold a special kind of energy, the wind flowing over the ridges, the clouds drifting in and out, the stillness that comes with being so far from everything else.

Up in Koke’e, surrounded by mist and ancient forest, they exchanged their vows in a unique and personal way, that was exactly what they envisioned.

There’s something deeply moving about watching two people completely lost in a moment together. These two were at the peak of one of those moments when they stepped out from beneath a massive tree and into the sunshine of a new life together.

There are moments in a wedding day that can’t be planned, only recognized.
As we walked onto the beach for Madison and Nathan’s portraits at Na Aina Kai, the moon had just begun to rise and the sky was painted in soft pastel tones.

I could feel this moment was special, but knew the window was brief.

This is where a decade of experience comes into play. Instinctually, I moved quickly but calmly, guiding my couple into position while the colors held. Multiple frames, different angles, all captured in minutes before the light shifted and that magic moment was lost.

I see my role as staying present, recognizing these fleeting moments, and moving with confidence so you can simply be there, trusting that what’s unfolding is being captured.

When we stepped onto the lawn for the couples’ portraits, the light was at its absolute peak. Golden hour filtering through those massive monkey pod trees, wrapping them in the softest, warmest glow. It was perfect.
It made me reflect on how beautifully the day had flowed. Moving seamlessly through all the major events, landing right here at this exact moment when everything aligned. One beautiful highlight flowing into the next, perfectly timed to capture the best light of the day.
