AVAILABLE NOW. A mid-century Italian travertine storage jar.

As decorative as it is functional, this weighty jar has a beautiful natural texture in a warm, creamy neutral tone. I love it against the dark wood, but it would sit just as well in a kitchen or bathroom too.

Height 19cm. Width 14cm.

SOLD. Iconic, rare mid-century pair of “Pendel” Wall Sconces by Pierre Forssell for Skultuna.

Created in the late 1950s by renowned Swedish designer and silversmith Pierre Forssell, these minimalist pendulum candle holders are crafted from weighty, solid brass, with a rich, natural patina that only decades of age can beautifully produce.

These look perfect over a fireplace, framing an artwork or a mirror.

Height 47cm / Width of circular base 4cm.

The rawness of the metal and concrete. The warmth of the wood. The softness of the faded yellow, the richness of the red. This space at @hotelmasse feels so considered yet so inviting and homely.

AVAILABLE NOW. Erik Larsen (1902-1975). Woman In Scarf, oil on canvas, signed.

A mid-century portrait with a vibrant, bold colour palette. A face that feels calm and in thought, I was drawn to the gaze of her wide eyes.

Erik Larsen was a Danish painter who split his time between Copenhagen and the countryside. His early work drew strong inspiration from French artists, and included vibrant scenes of circuses and carnivals. This portrait is calmer, but has the same confident use of colour carried through.

41cm x 45cm, framed. Original frame, light wear.

Individual craftsmanship will always bring something special. This floor is created from five slabs of marble broken out and laid by hand. And the way this kitchen island sits. There’s been a move towards free standing islands recently, and this feels like a perfect midway point. Very much part of the kitchen but with a lightness created by lifting it off the floor.

Available now. I couldn’t resist the drip glaze of this small Dutch mid century studio pottery, circa 1960s.

This is a solid, weighty piece for its size, and looks gorgeous against darker wood. Holds its own and would be great for a few stems too.

H 21cm x W 7.5cm.

Sketches made by artist Jean Buffile in the 1950s to decorate his ceramic collections are reproduced in this incredible wallpaper by Pierre Frey. The drawings cover this powder room wall as if individually cut out and placed. A small room with a big story.

Available now. Fabian Lundqvist. Two women, oil on canvas, signed. Circa 1960s.

A mid-century figurative painting capturing an everyday moment between two women. I love the silhouette of their clothes, how contemporary and chic they feel, whilst going about their day, perhaps to the market or picking fruit.

Fabian Lundqvist is a well known name in Swedish mid-century art, and a favourite among interior designers and collectors. The rich earthy palette, lifted by a pop of blue, is the perfect starting point for a room’s colour story.

60cm x 52cm, framed. Original frame, slight surface wear.

NOW SOLD. A rare Swedish ceramic wall mirror by Lisa Larson from her Thalia range, designed during her tenure at the Gustavsberg porcelain factory in the 1960s.

Decorative and functional, this is a small sculpture as much as a mirror. I was drawn to the stylised hand painted depictions of animals and people in cream and black against a warm ochre frame. I love how the playfulness sits alongside real craft.

Frame diameter 28cm. Mirror diameter 18cm. Slight foxing.

This 1966 Ray Kappe home is the perfect example of different styles and tastes coming together in the objects chosen. The mid-century architecture, the bold striped chairs, in contrast to the ornate mirror and textiles, create somewhere unique and personal.

SOLD. Studio pottery from the Greek Island of Andros.

This piece feels like it has so many stories. A boat-shaped vessel with a small centred neck and a raised pedestal foot, it immediately nods to Andros’ maritime heritage.

A heavily textured, organic carved surface, left unglazed for a chalky feel, in contrast to the glazed shine within the bottle neck. I love how form meets function. This piece looks as good alone as it would with flower stems.

The silhouette resembles ancient Minoan and Cycladic vessels, whilst at the same time feeling particularly indebted to the mid-century movement, where artists moved towards sculptural pieces inspired by ancient archaeology.

H22cm x W37cm.
