Rickie De Sole always knew she wanted to work in fashion. Before becoming becoming Editor of Air Mail’s Dress Code, she started her career as a fashion assistant at Vanity Fair. After about a year, Rickie moved into public relations at Prada, where she worked from 2007 to 2010. In 2010, she transitioned back to the world of fashion media at Vogue as a market editor, eventually working her way up to the role of accessories director. Rickie then went to W Magazine, rising up the ranks to fashion director. She eventually transitioned back to Vogue, where she gained the title of executive fashion director of Vogue.com. Rickie subsequently pivoted from the publication world to retail at Nordstrom, ending her time there as the VP fashion director. Throughout her career, she has also served on the board of a few companies such as Rent the Runway and Vestiaire Collective. Today, she leads Air Mail’s style publication, Dress Code, and serves as a senior adviser at Sandbridge Capital.

Casey Lewis has always loved youth culture. Before she started her prolific Substack newsletter, After School, and before she even graduated high school, Casey was writing about youth trends on her blog Teen Fashionista. She continued her blog into college before starting at Teen Vogue as an intern. Over the course of her time at Teen Vogue, she worked her way up to the role of senior digital editor. She eventually left to create something of her own: Clover Letter, a daily newsletter for teen girls. Clover Letter gained traction quickly and was eventually acquired by AwesomenessTV. Casey then transitioned to a senior editor role at New York magazine, but she missed writing. So in 2021, she put in her notice and started her youth-culture Substack, After School. Today, she continues to write her widely successful newsletter to tens of thousands of dedicated readers, makes accompanying content on Instagram and TikTok, and uses her expertise in youth trends to consult businesses, from early-age startups to Fortune 500 companies.

Annie Meyers-Shyer always loved interiors. However, before embarking on her renovation and interior-design journey that has become This Oak House, Annie started her career in fashion, working for both InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar. She then worked in the tech space as the fashion director of MySpace before transitioning back into the traditional fashion industry, working in PR at Chanel. After working at Chanel for six years, she left to focus on being a mom full-time. When her mother-in-law moved out of her Los Angeles home, Annie jumped on the opportunity to take on the house and subsequent renovation project. She decided to document her journey on Instagram for her friends to stay updated, and what began as a small, casual account blossomed into a community of over 200,000 followers. Today, the “accidental influencer” has taken her renovation journey and documented it in a book called This Oak House, which releases tomorrow!

Jess Rona has been grooming dogs since she was 18. However, she initially aspired to be an actress. Jess started working at PetSmart in Los Angeles as a dog bather and slowly learned grooming on the job. At one point, she stopped grooming, moved to New York, and started doing improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade. She ultimately made her way back to Los Angeles and dog grooming, honing her expertise and even participating in grooming competitions. She later transitioned into being her own boss, opening her own grooming business out of her garage. Then, her slo-mo dog-grooming videos started going viral on social media, putting her business on the map and allowing her to open a brick-and-mortar location in Larchmont Village. Today, Jess is gearing up to launch Shmoop, “a beauty brand for every dog,” and her salon and content creation continue to thrive.

Before founding her own pistachio-milk brand, Táche, Roxana Saidi graduated with a degree in marketing and got her first job out of college in public relations in Los Angeles. After that, she founded a social media agency, Rx Social, which grew into a creative and brand strategy agency. Roxana eventually moved to New York and transitioned into consulting, but while on a trip with her family, she was struck by the idea for an alternative milk made of pistachios, which were a staple in her Middle Eastern household growing up. She realized that pistachio milk could be more sustainable than almond milk and more nutritious than oat milk, so she built Táche and launched the brand in 2020. Táche quickly found its way into cafés and grocery stores, such as Erewhon and Sprouts, and the brand recently entered Whole Foods with its three-ingredient pistachio milk.

Isabella Hughes saw room for a superior sour gummy, so she created one. However, before cofounding Better Sour with her lifelong best friend Semira Nikou, Isabella started her career in the arts, curating exhibitions for a variety of organizations in the United States and UAE. She always had an interest in entrepreneurship, so in 2014, she started her first company—a Middle Eastern–inspired ice cream brand called Lezzetli. Around the same time, she came up with the idea for her second business, a Hawaii-grown herbal iced tea brand called Shaka Tea, which was acquired in 2022. After the acquisition, Isabella and her lifelong best friend Semira Nikou cofounded Better Sour. As daughters of Iranian immigrants who both grew up in Hawaii, Isabella and Semira used their shared cultural backgrounds to inspire their flavors. Today, Better Sour is in over 4000 stores, including Erewhon, Whole Foods, and Sprouts.
