This page is a little bit of everything I actually enjoy. Architecture, travel, fitness, everyday life, random thoughts, and the occasional post that probably made more sense in my head.

I like noticing places, details, routines, and small moments that are easy to overlook when life gets busy.

Sometimes there’s a deeper thought behind the post. Sometimes it’s just a nice view, a good workout, a random walk, or something that made me laugh.

We woke up right around sunrise, and the cold morning air somehow convinced us that going outside was a good idea.

Everything was quiet, the sky was starting to light up, and for a moment I thought, why not go for a run?

So I tried.

Turns out, being inspired by the view and actually wanting to run in the cold are two very different things. 😂

The run didn’t last long, but honestly, I didn’t mind. We slowed down, took in the sunrise, walked around for a bit, and eventually ended up back inside with coffee.

Not exactly the workout I had in mind, but still a pretty good way to start the morning.

We almost missed this sunset.

We were heading to Reynisfjara and ended up taking a wrong turn somewhere along the way. By the time we realized it, the sun was already getting low, so the rest of the drive became a race against the clock.

We made it just in time.

Cold air, black sand, waves, and that last strip of orange on the horizon.

We got to our Airbnb late because of it, but I’d still make the same choice again.

Some detours are annoying in the moment.
Somehow, they also make the story better.

People think architects just draw.

But every line on a drawing can affect structure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, accessibility, code compliance, envelope performance, energy use, materials, cost, constructability, and how people actually experience the space.

Architects aren’t expected to replace every consultant.

But we are expected to understand enough of each discipline to know what questions to ask, what conflicts to catch, and how everything fits together.

And after all of that coordination, the building still has to work, look intentional, meet the client’s needs, and actually get built.

That’s the part people usually don’t see.

Appreciation post for my wife.

Grateful for the places we’ve been, the things we’ve seen, and the person I get to experience all of this with.

Travel gives you a lot to appreciate, the views, the memories, the little moments…
