As I review video there is always something wild that pops up on or off camera that takes away the neatness of documenting this journey and keeps me honest. Most city content is just so tidy but tennis in New York can be gritty as fuck.

A crackhead having a bad day looking for their regular fix and seeing that their dealer had to relocate their daily deal to another bench in a playground will let you know that you are their problem.

Another example, going to East River Park to hit on those prestine courts no one talks about having to walk by the projects or crunching on broken bottles of vodka as park of the tennis pick me up. That's the rub. That's the love story. Its okay to feel and ovserve that seeking to play something boujee forces you to feel when you walk by a homeless man asleep infeont of an empty storefront on Delancey carrying a designer bag with 2 $300 racquets and an $8 ice coffee.

THAT'S NEW YORK BABY!

The origin story is far more layered and thus more fun to tell.

Parks to Hit: I am kind of in love with Lincoln Terrace Park. I have been since I worked for a member of City Council who was responsible for the park. The tree lined, three tiered facility is rather unique. Built right into thw hill that separates Crown Heights amd Brownsville. Early mornings and midday hits are ideal here and lots of walk on doubles to be enjoyed.

Parks to Hit: Hell's Kitchen Playground (47th 48th Street 10th Ave) Once an abandoned lot the residents demanded a park be built to provide recreational space in ths heart of this neighborhood. Don't be fooled by the gentrification watch your wallet and pocket your watch. Great for a weekday hit you'll be competing against handball on the weekends.
