There’s a Japanese craft pop-up at @chillhubmq in Macquarie Park, where you can learn how to make earrings out of recycled plastics!

The next session has been rescheduled to 🗓️28 November.

I’ve always been curious how everyday plastics can be turned into something you’d actually wear. Up-cycled jewellery is handmade from reused materials, so every pair comes out unique.

All workshops are kid-friendly!

If an adult is not joining a workshop, no problem! Enjoy a coffee, food or sweets while the kids create. (order by 2pm)

Some sessions require adult supervision, but you’re always welcome to relax at the café and watch the creativity unfold✨

Flowers that never wilt. 🌸✨

These flowers are made from upcycled plastic bottle caps.

I flatten the bottle cap sheets, cut them into delicate pieces, and shape them by hand to create a beautiful, three-dimensional look.

A sustainable and long-lasting way to bring a little colour into your home. ♻️

What happens when I turn tiny pieces of discarded plastic into jewellery? ✨

I took the colourful plastic sheets I usually make from discarded bottle caps and cut them into lots of tiny pieces.

Then came the fun part — filling them into resin and watching all those little pieces come together. After curing, I shaped and polished the resin into a smooth, round sphere.

There was quite a bit of dust while sanding, so I worked inside a large ziplock bag to keep it contained. ♻️

And finally… these elegant earrings were born, with the soft, delicate colours of the original bottle caps. 🤍

Looking for fun activities to do during the school holidays? Why not turn those bottle caps you’d usually throw away into colorful, custom accessories? ♻️✨

Here’s how to do it:

Choose your favorite colors and cut the caps into small pieces.

Arrange them into your own design on baking paper.

Gently melt them with an iron.

⚠️ Important Safety Note: To keep everything safe, please ensure your iron stays below 200°C. Proper temperature control and good ventilation are essential to prevent any toxic fumes.

It’s so exciting to watch waste turn into a little treasure! Give it a try with your kids this weekend or during the break. 🎨👩‍👧‍👦
