One of the unexpected highlights of visiting Iguazu Falls is the wildlife. We spotted this beautiful toucan perched in the trees. That beak!

The waterfalls may be the main attraction, but there’s plenty more to see. The jaguars are elusive but the bird watching is incredible!

One of the many highlights on the drive from Salta City to Cafayate is El Anfiteatro, a natural rock amphitheater with incredible acoustics.

There are almost always local musicians playing here, and today’s headliner was great.

Listening to the music while taking in the spectacular setting was amazing, and one of the best memories of the day.

I don’t normally eat much beef, but when in Argentina…

Dinner at @fogonasado was such a fun way to experience the Argentine asado tradition. Asado is about much more than grilled meat. It’s a social ritual, built around the parrilla, fire, patience and gathering together over a long meal.

Fogón takes that tradition and turns it into a tasting experience, with each course prepared in front of you and the different cuts, techniques and flavors explained along the way. I’ll admit, I was a little worried it might feel too showy or touristy, but it really didn’t. It was polished, interesting and genuinely enjoyable, without losing the feeling of what asado is all about.

And yes, I ate far more beef than I normally would. When in Argentina, you commit.

That said, after all the beautiful Argentine beef, my favorite course may have been the ember-roasted eggplant.

Apparently I came to Buenos Aires for the steak and stayed for the vegetable.

Only in Buenos Aires do you walk into a bookstore and feel like you should be dressed for the theater. 📚✨

El Ateneo Grand Splendid began life as a grand theater in 1919, and today the balconies, ornate ceiling, frescoed dome and original stage remain. The former stage is now a café, which may be the best possible second act for a theater.

It also fits perfectly in Buenos Aires, a city with a serious reading culture. There are hundreds of bookstores, a major international book fair, and a literary history that includes writers such as Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortázar. Buenos Aires was even named UNESCO World Book Capital in 2011.

El Ateneo was converted into a bookstore in 2000 while preserving much of the original theater, and today it holds roughly 120,000 books. You can even sit in one of the old theater boxes and read.

One more reason I’m loving Buenos Aires.

I arrived in Argentina this morning and Buenos Aires wasted no time grabbing my attention!

I spent part of my first afternoon wandering Palermo Soho, a neighborhood known for its cafés, boutiques, cobblestone streets and incredible street art.

Street art tours are popular here, and it’s easy to see why. Much of what you see isn’t vandalism at all. Artists often work collaboratively with the permission of property owners, and some are specifically invited to transform walls and buildings into public art.

The result is a neighborhood that feels creative, interesting, artsy, and fun. Some of the work is playful and some political. All extends an invitation to connect with this vibrant community.

Think river cruising isn’t for you? Think again! The ships are nothing like the larger ocean liners that might come to mind. This is travel on a smaller, more personal scale with plenty of exploring time every single day.

Our recent WhirlAway journal debunks those common misconceptions about river cruising and why it could be the answer to your next vacation. “Once people actually go river cruising, they’re hooked,” says WhirlAway’s @secsamuel.

Get the full scoop, link in bio.

Wishing today’s lunch looked a little more like this. @secsamuel’s photos from Sicily have us dreaming of fresh burrata, tomatoes, and olives passed around the table—best, of course, with a crisp white wine. We can help make this your reality. ☀️🍅

I knew I was going to love this place. I had no idea just how much.

As someone who is drawn to ceramics, craftsmanship, and beautiful design wherever I travel, the Tile Museum in Palermo was one of the highlights of my Sicily trip. Walking through room after room of historic Sicilian maiolica, I honestly felt a little dizzy—in the best possible way. The scale of the collection, the colors, the artistry… it far exceeded my expectations.

The story behind it is just as fascinating. The owner began collecting tiles when he was only 11 years old. What started as a childhood passion grew into a lifelong obsession, eventually filling an entire historic palazzo with one of the most extraordinary collections of Sicilian ceramics I’ve ever seen.

And here’s the part that makes it even more special: this isn’t just a museum. It’s also his home. He lives here, surrounded by the collection he has spent decades building and preserving.

This may not be everyone’s idea of a must-see attraction. But if you love ceramics, artisan craftsmanship, interiors, design, or the stories of passionate people who dedicate their lives to preserving a craft, you’ll be absolutely blown away.

I’m still dreaming about this place!

An unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience in Ragusa: an exclusive visit to Cinabro Carrettieri, where one of Sicily’s most iconic traditions lives on.

The colorful carretto siciliano once transported goods across the island, with every cart transformed into a moving work of art through intricate hand-painting and carving. Today, only a handful of artisans preserve the craft.

After apprenticing under one of Sicily’s last master cart painters, Damiano Rotella and Biagio Castilletti took over a historic 19th-century workshop in Ragusa Ibla and became the next generation of custodians of this remarkable tradition.

Their artistry caught the attention of Dolce & Gabbana, who selected them to create the designs for the iconic Smeg x Dolce & Gabbana appliances inspired by Sicily’s vibrant colors and heritage.

This was such a cool experience. Standing in this historic workshop, seeing the incredible artistry up close, and meeting the people carrying this tradition forward was a true highlight of Sicily for me.

Departing Sicily with a perfect view of Mount Etna.

She’s been steaming all week, but the Sicilians seem completely unfazed. Apparently when you live next to an active volcano, you just carry on with your espresso, your lunch plans, and your evening passeggiata.

It feels like Etna is part of the island’s personality—dramatic, beautiful, a little unpredictable, and impossible to ignore.

Until next time, Sicily!
