"God endorses a 40-year-old man to marry a 3-year-old girl.”

If that is genuinely the interpretation being defended, then no appeal to god makes the act moral. A three-year-old cannot meaningfully understand marriage, much less give informed consent to it. Calling the arrangement divinely approved doesn't solve the moral problem; it demonstrates the danger of allowing religious authority to override ordinary moral reasoning.

The idea that Rebekah was only three comes from later rabbinic commentary, most famously Rashi (11th century), who made chronological calculations suggesting she was born shortly before Sarah's death and was thus about three years old when chosen as Isaac's bride. 

This interpretation became controversial in 2013 when a children's book titled "Kind Little Rivka" by Dina Rosenfeld depicted a three-year-old Rebekah marrying 40-year-old Isaac, sparking widespread criticism (covered by HuffPost, The Forward, etc.).

The sharper argument is:
“When a religious interpretation produces the conclusion that a 40-year-old marrying a three-year-old is praiseworthy, what allows us to recognize that interpretation as morally grotesque? If the answer is our independent understanding of children's welfare, consent, coercion, and harm, then we're already using moral standards that don't depend upon the religious story.”

The opening difference is substantial. The U.S. document begins with “We the People” and speaks of forming a “more perfect Union.” The Confederate document inserts “each State acting in its sovereign and independent character” and describes the resulting system as a “permanent federal government.” It also explicitly invokes God, which the U.S. preamble does not. �
