Drop in for an evolving community animation workshop. No experience needed!

Together, we will draw, paint and collage along a reel of paper which will become a lively animation projected in the gallery space. This animation technique is similar to the “paint on film” approach used by Len Lye and Phil Evans.

The workshops will ru in the gallery on:
* Thursday 25 June 2-5pm. Opening event from 6pm
* Friday 26 June 2-5pm

Thank you friends, fam, colleagues and new friends for coming to the opening of Noodle Soup on Tuesday 💥 It was so special to share the fruits of my noodley labours from the last 4 years!

Things devolved into sprawling floor chats with jelly snakes, interrupted by the curious roving yellow wobbly sculpture...

In the exhibition Noodle Soup, Sarah Eddowes presents works from her practice-based PhD. The research has focussed specifically on exposing a dialogue between touch, as experienced in physical sculpture and 3D visualisation techniques such as 3D digital capture, 3D printing and dynamic simulation.

Through a range of virtual and physical media, this exhibition invites visitors to experience the collision between systematic structures with the soft and wobbly forces of corporeal experience.

The exhibition is open Wednesday – Friday 12-4pm until 29th May

There will be an artist talk at 3pm on Saturday 23rd May

The time has come to share my PhD examination exhibition!
Noodle Soup presents a selection of works from my research over the last 4 years.

The research explores the translation of tactile experience between sculpture and 3D computer-generated imagery.

Wobbly sculptures, a virtual reality studio and some lively animated bodies await you!

Group Show / TABLEAU VIVANT (the living picture) is open until 26 April. The show presents the outcomes of collaborative experiments undertaken by members of the UNSW Drawing Research Group (DRG) @unswdrawing. The project investigates drawing as a live field of peripheral, ambient and embodied phenomena beyond the static page.

Developed through a series of workshops held in the UNSW Art and Design’s Black Box facility, the creative methods adopted range across a variety of mark-making practices combined with Motion Capture technology, ceiling mounted video recording, and 3D scanning. Centred on the concept of the tableau vivant, or “living picture”, the exhibition frames drawing as a dynamic process shaped by bodies moving through space and augmented by digital technologies, with outcomes featuring time-lapse video, animation, real-time interactive 3D graphics, and works on paper and Perspex.

This project was led by Karen Kriss krisskrinkle and David Eastwood @eastwood.david and supported by a grant from UNSW School of Art and Design. The DRG comprises academic staff, sessional academics, and Higher Degree Research candidates from the school. Members participating in this exhibition are:

The Wreck (2026) by Sarah Eddowes expresses a conversation between Théodore Géricault’s The Raft of The Medusa (1818-1819), contemporary imaging technology, and the material human bodies which connect these spaces across time.

The image layers simulated flesh-like material and the soft forms of the scanned participants with the splintered and jagged edges of their virtual surfaces. Géricault’s work glimmers through breaks in the foreground.

This sculpture, Troll is on show right now @drawspacesydney as part of the exhibition FILAMENT.

This work explores tensions between resistance and collapse in both physical matter and virtual simulation of matter. I aim to push against these limits as a way of affirming my own experience as a physical human body in space.
