What a great party to start Art Week, and a week of having everyone back in town with @hsbc_hk as lead partner at M+. Loved the energy and live performances by Lee Nalchi, Hwasa and Dis Fig! Not to be missed, of course is the special exhibition of Lee Bul!

I’ve gotten a number of inquiries on this so here’s a couple photos of my wedding outfit for all the guys looking for references for a 長衫馬褂 ChangShan MaGua option for pending nuptials.

馬褂Ma Gua/Ma Kua (mandarin/cantonese) refers to the formal jacket which goes on top of the cheongsam

And 長衫Chang Shan/Cheong Sam refers to the long formal dress under

For the fabric - I chose to forgo a shiny silky fabric for my Magua and opt for this woollen jacquard instead. The texture and contrast against the silky changshan it was layered on presented a more modern tailored aesthetic for me, without taking away from the traditional outfit. The gold buttons are also an alternative instead of jewellery/accessories
