The child care industry needs systemic support to continue providing high-quality care for children. Systemic support must entail all communities and community members playing a role in developing key solutions and contributing their time, talents, and treasures in some way. It also means that a variety of solutions, enacted and working in tandem, is needed for success to be sustainable.

In designing and delivering the Child Care Business Improvement Project, SEED Collective staff, Mentors, and Advisors were granted a unique perspective of the child care industry, including the communities of support, the various business models used to operate child care facilities, the dedication of the professionals that give life to the work, and working with a government agency. From this perspective, we offer the following recommendations for Child Care Providers, the business ecosystem, and government agencies.

The KC SEED team had a great time at @wonderscopecmkc Trivia Night this weekend. While I’m terrible at trivia and only “helped” with one question, it was still fun 😅 I’m proud to serve on the Board of Directors and it was great to celebrate as a full team that SEED Collective (@seedconsults) is an Innovation Sponsor of Wonderscope. We work closely with child care providers across the country through @childcareaccel and it’s our honor to give back. It was also great bonding with the @centric.build crew, another innovation sponsor. Congratulations to Wonderscope on another great event. #teamSEED #wonderscope #centricinquisition #innovationsponsor #childrensmuseum #teambonding #differentkindsofsmart #boardmember #grateful #sixstatesandgrowing #charitablegiving taken in Wonderscope Children's Museum by @seedconsults

Happy holidays to and from the SEED team. I am so grateful to know, work, and learn with this group of professionals— I don’t have the words to fully express. Thankful too, for our clients near and far, our fantastic mentors, and partners. Special thanks to @lifeastiffanycody, @shaylanash_mua @thenicogiles for all your help too. Today is our last day in the office for the year, and I told everyone to rest up because 2024 will be our best year yet :) . #teamSEED #eshiplaw #yearend #strategicplanningtime #strategicenterprise #economicdevelopment #businesscoach #CCA #itsfamily #itsbusiness #itsafamilybusiness by @seedconsults

Wednesdays are for business coaching! Just wrapped up our July coaching sessions and I’m so proud of this first cohort of the Rising Trades Contractor Accelerator. In the last two months, our contractors have set and met goals, engaged with professional service providers, networked, and hosted Clean Energy Growth Plan meetings. We still have six months of support + strategy left and I can’t wait to see their growth at graduation. Our participating business owners are Robert Miller of ROMElectric, Naomi Taylor of Taylor Rejuvenation Group, Fahteema Parrish of Parrish & Sons Construction, and Hong Anh Sievert of Blossom Spaces. Last week we met in person and networked with my favorite construction folks at the @buildersassociationkc training facility and summer member event at Chicken N Pickle.

Business incubator programs provide education, a community, and a safe step between running the business at the kitchen table and entering into a market-rate lease.
At SEED Collective, we have experience designing and managing in-person and virtual incubator and business support programs that prioritize client needs and strategies.

We’re looking ahead to 2022 and there are a few business programs we have the honor of helping to design and operate.
