I count in French. I argue in Arabic. I write in English. And sometimes, mid-sentence, my brain switches without asking permission.

Living between languages means never fully belonging to one. But it also means one word is never enough — and that’s not a problem. That’s the whole point.

I’m a designer. But that’s not really why I notice things.

I notice the curve of an Arabic letter before I read the word. I notice the white space before the content. I notice when something works and looks inevitable — like it couldn’t have been any other way.

Design, art, beauty. For me they’ve never been separate conversations.

My French Mamie had a saying for everything. My Syrian Tété had a different one — for the same thing. Neither translated perfectly into the other’s language. But somehow, both were right.

Culture isn’t what you study. It’s what your grandmothers knew without explaining.

In general, Turkish coffee reading is a practice for interpreting cup's coffee grounds as well as these on the saucer. ... This type of coffee leaves not only thick but also muddy sediment at the bottom of the cup. If you swirl the cup and turn it upside down then the grounds will fall down.

In Arabic, we congratulate each other after a bath. After a haircut. After anything that refreshes you.
It’s said after — like quietly applauding the simple act of taking care of yourself.
No equivalent in French. No equivalent in English. Just this one warm word.
